What do you think the earthquake spell would be good for? It looks really useless.
I was thinking the same thing, but I'm sure we'll find some way to incorporate it into attacking strategies eventually.
I think it will depend on the math between quake and lightning, as well as the radius for the quake.
Possible uses:
Quake with a decent size radius--use one or two to weaken two mortars that are fairly close together. Finish them with one lightning each. If you can kill two mortars for 5 or 6 spell slots, that is an improvement over 4 lightnings to do the same job.
Depending on the numbers, 1 quake + 2 LB might be enough to take out an AD. Leaving a TH8 with capacity to add a rage spell to a dragoon attack.
Another use could be for goxx attacks. Use a quake to weaken multiple layers of walls so you need one less WB per layer (also help target WB because they will go for the weakened area).
Same targeting idea applies to all ground attacks. Weakening the wall section you want troops to go through (into large compartments rather than small ones, break through outside the range of splash defenses, etc)
I will likely use poison first to fill an odd spell slot, but quake might find a spot if I'm running 2 poison and don't have access to the third spell.
It's good for shaking the earth.
High level walls look like a good target for sure. If this really is an extra slot and you can still bring 5 elixir spells along, not much to lose here other than missing out on poison.
Also, those TH10 box-type anti-two star bases have a huge number of buildings packed in side by side. Not absolutely sure about the damage dealing here, but it seems like they could be vulnerable to a triple drop of quakes. This base type is INCREDIBLY popular in champs, so nerfing them would actually be a big deal and 3/5 quakes might be a good investment with GOWI (you're certainly not going to struggle to find these bases).
Some of southern teaser bases are like this as well.
This might be more of a factor if the Reddit leak is correct and there's a broad HP building buff enacted.
Does anyone know if the Earthquake spell will trigger traps? That would be very useful IMO
