Right now the th9 and th10 battles are quite balanced. Th8 and th7, people say dragons are no brainer 3 stars. But if you add defenses in th7 and above, it will make th9 and th10's battles balance to shift. The effect snowballs, don't forget it.
Especially with the new air sweeper defenses being added, SC is waiting for the players to design a new base in th7 and th8 layout to tackle this very problem.
And remember, adding a structure not only means your base and your enemies' base gets tougher to penetrate, it will also mean how much percentage does 1 building mean in the affected town halls
