Tesla not coming up when troops are in range

The tesla just seems to pop up whenever it feels like it. Is anyone else seeing this? I've spoken with clan members and they see the same thing when watching replays. It makes much less usefull if it doesn't come up until troops are right on top of it.Thanks!

I think that's the point. It's like a trap, not an extra tower. The attacking force has to trigger it.

I guess that would make some sense (useless, but thats another story) but troops are not triggering it either. They are still outside walls, but well within it's range

Again it's like a trap not an extra tower. The troops have to get right next to or step right on top of it.

The tesla has 2 seperate ranges. units have to be within 4 tiles to activate it, and once revelaed has attack range of 7
