Reduce hoppers abandoning clans in war

In our clan we regularly get new members requesting to war, then bailing once we start with them still in it. We've tried a few things, including forcing new members to sit the first war out to ensure they're not hoppers, but sometimes we're recruiting with the intention of getting enough war members and new members have to be trusted.

My idea is simple. If a member opts in for war, and is part of a clan war when it starts, they must request to leave just as they requested to join, which shows up on chat, and their request to leave can be accepted or rejected by elder or above. This will definitely make hoppers think twice about whining and begging for war and leaving the minute it begins, which gets frustrating for clan leaders fast.

why are you even letting new members tell you how to run your clan? if they beg for war, kick them out. it's YOUR clan, YOU need to step up and take responsibility for what happens. Make them sit out for a week. Figure something out.

I would hate it if I had to request to leave a clan. I left a clan because they wouldn't "allow" me to hop to another clan. It was against their rules. I like hopping between clans but I always make sure to use my attacks in war.

Did you even read my message? That's exactly what we do, we don't start war because a hopper requested us to we start war because we want to, and we include new members if we're one or two members short for an even war number.

This request to leave a clan would only be if you opted in for war and you're in the war, at which point you dug your own grave, no other time would I even want to stop people from coming and going. It's great that you're an honorable hopper that does your attacks when you're in a war, but your type is probably one of a hundred hoppers we encounter.

So make it a smaller war. Don't include new people. You can't trust them to attack in the war.

Also you can't say "that's exactly what we do" about making new members sit out when you go on and say "sometimes we include new members."

I agree with you that this is an issue. I don't think requesting to leave will solve the problem though because if that was implemented, they could just as well not fight.... or fight poorly.

If you don't fight in a war (and your Opt In was set when the war was declared), I would like to see
the Clan Wars button automatically set to Opt Out (requiring the user to actively set it back to Opt In).

If you leave a clan without using both your war battles, a 5 day cool down period would probably be extremely helpful. This might need to include a full troop deployment during battle to prevent people from dropping a troop into each battle and then leaving. Perhaps a check box upon departure from a leader/co-leader could specify whether the person left on bad terms would help by adding the possibility of a graceful exit. Such a cool down would only affect a user if (1) they were in the war, and (2) they left the clan during the war.

You're suggestions are things we do but can't always be applied, so yes I can say that. We do 10 member wars two or three times a week. If only 9 members want to war, our options are to either risk a new member or not war. Yeah, we can deal with it, but I still don't see what's unfair about preventing members from abandoning war. Maybe you don't use both attacks in your hopping as you say you do?

You're right, Conqueror777, this wouldn't force them to attack, but I think the knowledge that the clan has the power to keep them from leaving until war is over might be enough to make a hopper think twice before joining war.

I read them. I think them through, too. What you think is a good idea, Supercell usually has a reason as to why they won't ever do it. Like you want a 5 day cool down period for those who leave a clan without using both their attacks - that'll never happen because Supercell doesn't want to punish or put a negative mark on a player.

You guys want the game to be played a certain way; however, this is a game played in MANY ways and Supercell won't add an idea that will make the game be played one way.

Yes, it's super annoying when somebody leaves without using their attacks. I've been there, I've been frustrated too because of it. But Supercell won't punish a player for leaving a clan. There's already an eligibility requirement to be in another war. If that player really wanted to war, they would realize they hurt themselves by leaving because their new clan won't be able to put them in a war until the war they left is over.

Lets say someone joined your clan, and is in war. They want to leave, but can't, because of your idea. They will start donating trash troops, swearing in chat, defaming your clan in global, humiliating your clan members, and set their base to an easy three star. You want that in your clan? Either you kick the hopper, or all of your clan mates leave. It's that simple.

Also they will waste their attacks so basicly it useless to keep them

Solution : rescuit in forums hoppers unlikely will come from there also if you can't always get to know them before letting em be in war
