ok so when the update came out I was the FIRST to register my disappointment.. *holds up hands*

So, since having time to cool down, think 1st act later rather than vice versa, yes I still think 8 diamonds is a lot but as ranger & pitchfork said, it's a goal to work toward.. Delayed gratification..

so... Let's see what you've been doing with your delayed gratification and anyone that has a ditch or trail... Show it off here. I'd love to see what you've done with this luxury deco so far and I'm sure others would appreciate your masterpieces too.

side note-can we refrain from using this thread to bring up the cost again.. We know it's a lot...we know it won't change..

I was just wondering that. Another thing I had been considering besides irrigation channels was just making my own lake. But not if it's going to fill with all those little islands. Is it just a piece of land that has no ditch applied to it but is otherwise surrounded by ditch? Or are the little islands an effect of filling an area with ditches: there's actually an 8-diamond ditch on that island?

Ive been thinking about cracking too...ive got enough diamonds for about four pieces but I'm still undecided whether to do it or not...I'm glad you've started this thread!

First of all this could be a truly great thread. A place to share designs using the ditches as shared by others.

Cost is not the issue in this thread. A beautiful design for a farm and/or town is the focus.

These three I posted in the other thread, but think they would be more suitable here for design inspiration.

This first one shows how ditches placed next to each other can make a nice river leading down into the farm. The addition of the waterfall, bridge, and a few small ponds creates a very artistic design that would look good on any farm. With the addition of mixed paths and wall pieces a few trees and bushes it becomes a really awesome design.

This one shows a very simple addition to a farm and makes use of one of the small ponds and about 12 ditches. By itself, it looks good but after the addition of a few more trees or bushes, I feel it could be better. I do like the way the walls and path pieces are mixed and angled to give a nice stairway down to the pond. I can imagine some ducks flying past and taking time out to relax as they paddle in the water.

This one shows a lot of time and energy has gone into choosing the right mix of decoration to enhance this area of the farm. The addition of the mushroom houses, which cost 25 diamonds and the small cart with the blue flowers, won in the derby we do have a nice spot for a picnic. The creator has also displayed some winter deco here as well so I hope in the future we also have some winter ditches as well. Imagine the ice rink we could create.

Looking for a nice use for the ditches, then look no further than this picture. The use of rose bushes, wheat, lavender and a water fountain give a really cool design. The ditches are used as a great irrigation system to water the crops.

Like yours not exactly a 'grand design' , but I like it!

I totally agree with you Jess, the farms look fabulous . I decided to take a wonder( this afternoon) on all my friends farms , just to have a quick peek and try & get a little inspiration on ditch designs ..... Ok hands up ...it was to steal some ideas 😜😜.
I couldn't believe what I found 😱...or should I say ... What I didn't find 😥

I have 110 neighbours, of which 90% of them are from the forum . I counted 12 ,who are inactive players , leaving a total of 98 active neighbours ,playing from level 139 down to level 23. I was truly amazed to find only 5 ,yes just 5 ,had actually purchased ditches 😱😱😱.
Now I know we're not suppose to mention the high price of the ditches on this lovely thread , so I'll hold my tongue and won't say what I'm think ..... " come on SC , my findings says it all , please tweak the price , just a tad " ... OMG , did I just say that out loud 😜😜😜.

What a lovely positive thread.:thumbsup: I’ve really enjoyed looking at the farms posted here and marvelling at the creative ways in which people have used the ditches. :cool: I’m really looking forward to experimenting a little myself and my first plan is to have a moat around the sandcastle on the beach.:D

We have a bit too much flooding in my town thanks to tropical storm Bill, so I will refrain from adding more water to my farm for a while, but these do look nice. Not too fond of the little islands but the wandering creeks look cool.

Ok so I love this... but I wouldnt be able to use it on my farm, having crops ready to harvest and not doing it would drive me crazy.
I really wanted to get some and do 2 lines across the town either side of the station just to see how the townies would react... would they end up just walking over them or would they wander backwards and forwards along the platform shaking their fists at me because they cant work out how to get to the shops.
But that will have to wait awhile now... I have too many queues to expand still

So many beautiful ditches here! I super love the look of it, in fact i've been looking at different farms just trying to admire other farmers ditches.

Attachment 120321I wanted an irrigation system next to my fields, but can't afford it. So now the ditch is just that, a ditch of dirty water by the road. I've filled in my planned irrigation system with dead nectar bushes.

Are you trying to post an image?

There's an icon of a tree pic in the second row of the message box. If you hover over it, it'll say "insert image."

Click on that. In the pop-up, choose the appropriate tab: either "from computer" or "from url."

Is the image saved to your device/computer? Choose "from computer."
Did you upload to an image sharing site like imgur or photobucket? Then choose from url.

Paste the file location or url of your image in the space provided.

If you're posting from an image sharing site then un-check "Retrieve remote file and reference locally."

Also, make sure that your image is saved in an acceptable format. Is the suffix .jpg .jpeg or .png ?

Click ok.

Although their bunnies are sleeping in the carrot patch across the road and thats just too damn cute!!

I havent seen many trails.. I may start off a trend on my farm tomorrow. I think the trails are swish!!

I'd always planned on doing a little sandcastle mote on my beach , but I couldn't believe the cheek of my townie 😱. It had taken me flipping hours to build that sandcastle ( blood, sweat & tears had gone into it ) 😜 and just like my kids , within seconds he was there trying to demolish it 😹😹😹

One thing I wish they had done when designing the ditches, was to make the water the same turquoise colour as the ponds and waterfalls:unsure:

It makes sense to me that the colors would be different because the depths and bottoms of the ponds and acequias are different :) Just my perspective :)

I thought about that as well, but since Hay Day isn't always that specific and accurate pertaining to details about how things are in the "real world", my original opinion still stands! XD:cool:

Ditches so lovely, ditches so beautiful.. And definitely separates the aristocracy from commoners like me. I guess i will have to stick to good old trail paths and wish for the path fairy to transform them into ditches ._.

Hay Day - June 2015 Update - Ditches & Trails

In the June 2015 update for Hay Day, we got two cool additions to the decorations. One is the ditch and the other is the trail. Now by themselves, they don’t really do much but if you are prepared to spend diamonds in the game then you can create some awesome designs.

Each piece will cost you 8 diamonds and when you start adding more to the game or your storage you can completely change the appearance of any area of the farm or town.

This video will introduce these new decorations then will show you lots of designs as created by the Hay Day community.

Resurrecting this thread, as I was just perusing it to get inspiration for the ditches I'm going to do in town.

Perky, love the hearts above. And this is crazy but I reflexively clicked on that toolbox as soon as I saw it, lol. You know you've been playing too much Hay Day when .... :p

My most recent favorite is Greebie's little town beach ditch around the sandcastle. It brings back fond memories of digging "down to water" on a beach and trying to protect a sandcastle from the tide. I especially like the fact that it doesn't take a truckload of diamonds for enough sections to make it work! There just might be a ditch in my sandcastle's future!
