Best TH9 War Attack; Why Aren't More People Using It?

Hey guys,

So it's been a while since I posted content but I've been hanging out with the guys over in Hebrew Legends and I cannot believe how rare it is still to see Surgical Hogs used in wars. This is the best option TH9's have (more versatile than GoLava). Why are do few people rocking it?

In an attempt to rectify the situation I've created this very simple guide which should help more people pick it up and start 6 starring every war.

Good vid as always! Ive tried this attack three times, only two starred, but am starting to get the hang of it. I tend to rush hog deployment before the ks finished their job so once I get that under control, I think this attack will be my goto one.

Thanks Koala. Yeah, having patience to let the hogs find the double Giant Bomb is definitely crucial. And working out the pathing before you attack. But, as hopefully the video shows, once you figure that out it's very very consistent.

GoLava is still a good option at TH9 but, as hopefully I'll be sharing in a forthcoming video, we've worked out a way to prevent 3 stars against GoLava. To my knowledge, no one had yet managed to do that versus good Surgical Hog attacks.

What are surgical hog attacks?

hogs that went back to school to get their MD before attacking...

watch the video man. In short, precision placement of 2-4 hogs per defense to take out the back end of an opponents base after sending a kill squad in from the other direction.

Nice thread/video DaRt. Surgical hogs are difficult to defend against, but the concept and idea of surgical also isn't easy to grasp.

Something is funny about Hebrew Legends using hogs. Don't tell the rabbi.

I find either GoLaLoon or Surgical Hogs are fine to 3 star a base but to me, if the AQ and AD can be taken out, Cold blooded or shattered are the way to go, which pretty much applies to a lot of bases.

Thanks Digit. Coming from you I appreciate that. I also agree about the concept being counter intuitive. It really takes someone to show you (at least it did for me) just how powerful the attack can be, in order to grasp it. That's really the idea of the video.

Apropos of nothing; much respect to your clan. I'd love to come by sometime and see what you guys are up to.

Dart this was my first attempt at surgical hogs. I know my troops are under powered for it, but I want to learn it. Ive been a TH8 less than a month. Started my attack at 12 o clock dropped hogs clockwise to 4 o'clock, then counter clockwise to 7 o'clock (tried to avoid bk till end). Used 7 wiz in kill squad, last wiz was for cleanup. My cc troops were 5 lvl 5 hogs dropped at 7.

BK and skeleton trap killed my last 4 hogs. 3 wiz left doing cleanup. My lvl 3 hogs will be done in 4 days. Can lvl 3 hogs survive this level of base that I usually attack?

Firstly, well done for taking the plunge and committing to learning the attack. That's the most important step. Regarding hog level, I suspect that 2 is too low to handle maxed TH8 bases. It should be possible with 3s bit will pivotally become more consistent when you get 4s. But in truth, simply learning the various different elements of this attack will develop your skills faster than just about anything else you can do in the game so my advice would just be, keep at it until you've got it! Good luck and keep up the good work.

I have finally decided to try a strategy like this out. I have been using giheho with some nice success but my 1 spam button release wasn't cutting it. It looks you just do a tap release? This is pretty much impossible to practice outside of war for me. I mean the basics I guess but I just can't work on the pathing and the more harder stuff in 30 secs before they give you. Not to mention there are no real bases that look like good target ones like in your video.

I also have noticed my aq and bk go down fairly quick after dealing with cc/aq, they are lvl 20 and 15 so not that high but while using giheho I never had that problem. Do I need to be quicker releasing hogs? Or maybe it's where I am releasing them? I start releasing hogs right next to the hero/golem action and work around the other way.

I understand the issue with searching on the live server bit really all you're looking for is a spread out base with heroes awake. And the 30 second time constraint, while not representative of war planning, does force you to speed up your analytical skills which is a benefit in and of itself. Don't forget to use your revenge log also. Typically this is where I do most of my war practice work - it's also why if you ever find me in live you should skip me ;).

In terms of deployment, the idea is to get the Hogs in while the golems are still alive so they can pull fire for them.

Ok that makes sense. It's a little frustrating watching these youtube videos at times, you guys make it look so easy. If you can understand the basic principals of attack, I think that helps more than anything. I have only tried this a couple times so far. So it kind of depends where aq goes, on where to release hogs? Say she starts to go over to one side more, release hogs on that side and the golem/hogs should keep her alive? Is that basically how you determine to go clockwise or counter clockwise? Maybe I should just watch that a few more times. :o

Definitely watch it more times. I actually have 3 surgical hog videos (they're in a series on my YT) and PRACTICE. I took me about 3 days of 4/5 attacks a day before I felt comfortable doing it. I then taught it to one of the Centum guys to make sure it was transferable and he got it I about 7/8 attacks.

Make sure you look for spread out bases and don't be afraid to fail. Every attack will take you closer to dominating your wars.
