I think it should deal extra damage to Archer Towers, Xbows, and Archers since the arrows will bounce off his tough armor...
I'm not too sure about this idea, I mean I can definitely picture Barch users bringing this troop into battle but in your description you said the troop would be more of a damage dealer and somewhat of a tank troop. My only concern if I were to use this troop is protecting this troop, because Air Defenses could easily destroy this troop without a few Lava Hounds around. I'm also concerned about the whole double damage ratio to troops... This troop would be one heck of a defense troop against Loonian, GoWiWi,GoWiPe, and GoWiWiPe. This troop would greatly challenge these troop comps because these comps contain Splash damage troops such as the Wizard or Balloon. If this troop does twice the damage on splash troops as well then it will definitely become more difficult to combat this troop if it were to be in a Clan Castle. I suggest just making the troop stronger on Splash Damage defense structures only, not the troops also. It would throw the balance off too greatly in my opinion. Another concern is; Why Splash damage defenses? Definitely wouldn't benefit the following comps I listed above, accept for Barch attacks...
What is a SAM? And on that list, OK then, that would be way too OP.

Seem OK? Wall Breakers are totally uneeded to target lol. And it's splash damage, a healer does no damage. I really don't think Valk is needed. Is it?
Remember that Hawks take up 5 space. A max CC can only fit 6 Hawks. This troop is actually more attack based than defense.
In the description I said it wasn't really a tank and more one of those fast low health troops meant to deal lots of damage when alive.
Splash damage defenses because mortars and wiz towers are very powerful. All ground comps have to worry about them and Air Comps have to worry about the Wizard Tower. It'll also be immensely useful in Barch and GiBarch.

Well, the primary defenses against these are supposed to be Air Bombs and air defenses. These would get taken out in about 3 hits from an Air Defense. But, as to balance it, the hawks can turn into the fastest troops in the game when at low health, so they have a chance to miss the hawk.
I love this idea but maybe make it a griffin to go more with the COC theme
