Some people just loves the challenge the game brings which is why they don't buy gems. Financial status should not be discussed here.

I think he means not spending money.......

I haven't gemmed anything and I'm lvl 88 at TH9 and a very casual player. I just got my fourth builder and got one of my Xbows at lvl 3... It is however painful watching ppl fly past you. I just managed to start lvl 6 archers research. It's doable, you just have to be very patient.

But then again, it's so much more rewarding when you get there.

I average about 30 minutes to 1h a day playing CoC. When I find time I can go to town for 3 hours straight but that doesn't even happen once a week.

I am however actively logging on to check if people need donations and try to be as much of a team player as possible. I average around 1,3k donations a week (pure archers!). I almost have all achievements.. It will probably take until christmas to get the fifth only from removing bushes and trees.

Hang in there, be patient and don't push too hard or you'll get frustrated and start gemming.

They don't buy gems because it costs money. Which was my other point, it boggles my mind that they can play such an awesome game and not want to spend anything at all... But thats just me and to each his own. As for me, everything i enjoy in life i give financial support to.

In terms of upgrading, you will eventually be able to upgrade everything since the most recent update, however, it's possible that a future update could change it so that you will not be able to complete everything subsequent to that. The reason is 1) even though it may take a long time to upgrade everything since the last update, it won't take so long that it's impossible and 2) it's possible that a future update could include an upgrade that is impossible to accomplish without gemming.

Its all a matter of adjusting. Each th feels different from th7 onwards. It will be painfully slower if you move 1 th up but it will always be possible without gems. Its just your ability to adapt. :rolleyes:

I have saved up enough gems to get 4th builder without buying gems. You can go far into the game if you are patient and consistent and active I believe. Im level 81 so far and still clashing,however fifth builder does seem it will take a long time to save for I am tempted to buy just enough for fifth but holding off for now. Just dont get discouraged by long upgrade times and you can do it.

I just explained that it's possible that it may not always be possible--it depends on the nature of future updates.
