Very Slow Sales at Roadside Shop

With the B&E now gone, it's obvious changes were made and maybe only some players are getting the ads with those rare items as I don't see very many people on here bringing up that issue.

It's not that people are fishing rather than playing and selling...fishing my four open spots takes only a few minutes then back to waiting for the cool down to finish. So I don't think that's what the issue is....just my opinion.

This is definitely something we need to look into and do some more systematic testing on. If adds in fact don't go into the paper, there's a bug somewhere that needs to be fixed. I just tried putting a saw up for sale, full price, with add. It was sold after 71 seconds. Since we don't know exactly what time the paper refreshes etc. I would say that doesn't seem to indicate any strange things. I'll do some more testing to get more statistics ... it'll also help me work my way towards that darn citizen kane achievement.

Yea its no just not much fun looking at the papers anymore right? i think the pies and stuff are being sold as secondary items you just have to look veryyyy hard for them!

dont put up a saw for sale! these items are hot of course they'll be sold within seconds :D try putting up normal items like pumpkin/carrot pie or a berry cake and see how long it takes. i tried a boring item like the potato it took me around 6 hours!

These items have been there since last night almost 24 hours. Only Bob dropped by to by an item. Ive been out all day today and not one sale.

That depends on what we want to test. What Missti reported was that apperantly, the adds didn't go into the paper at all - which is why I put something up for sale which I *know* will sell if it gets advertised. That way, I can be 100 % certain that if it doesn't get sold within a reasonable timeframe (like a couple of minutes), then something is in fact off with the system.

I've been regularly selling things through my roadside stand since the update. Things aren't perhaps selling quite as quickly as before, and the items that used to sell at full price now need a bit of a discount to get them moving, but things are still selling. I advertise the discounted items, and try to always have some harder to find items for sale as well.

Personally, I like the new paper! A much larger assortment of goods for sale, and for what ever reason, even things like expansion items are still there when I arrive (which usually isn't the case at all!). Maybe the wider range of goods offered in the paper has spread the customer base around some.

i have no doubt at all that the ads go into the paper fine, because my ores, expansion items always got snapped up within seconds. its the normal things like chili popcorn, berry cake, pumpkin pie that get left on the stand. its like now that the b&e is gone these items have become so common nobody buys them anymore. then the ads are also flooded with produces like potato, eggs, strawberries etc.

its good you like them! there are pros and cons i guess. since the sales are slow generally i did manage to snap up a few 'rare' items like syrup and ice cream lol. but im not liking how slow my items go so i dont sell much (unless i really have to). i mostly just put up expansion items.

well since day one i was doing wheat runs...harvesting wheat, putting it all cheap in the shop, than advertise
to dump it all, and do it again. now im having hard time to keep the cycle going because my shop gets full
and i produce more wheat faster than they buyers clear my shop.

that wasnt the case before...i filled a 70+ stalls shop and another 400 wheat for backfilling and it was all done in 3-5 minutes...now i get to a new ad after 30 minutes and still have the crops with me. hate it

This is all very interesting. I think I can confirm that it's not that people have stopped buying. I've more or less given up advertising as my shop is systematically emptied usually within 20 minutes despite the fact that I have completely lost half (5 or 6) of my most active GC friends (including yourself, though you are now in my last helpers bar). One keeps appearing and disappearing. I've not advertised for over a week, way before the update, but sell lots of cakes jam ice cream juice etc., never at full price. I followed a thread yesterday on which KaylinPickles was advocating selling at full price and my addition to the discussion was that I can't understand why people advertise run of the mill stuff at full price, I've never clicked on an add for 10 eggs at 180. Why are people so greedy that they even want that extra penny on the 201 for B & E?

The DD has definitely changed, for the better I think, but my general thoughts are that if someone is advertising their three berry cakes or their four roasted toms at full price hoping for their ad to have a long stay in the paper, it'll be there forever as far as I'm concerned, I'm never going to be seduced into visiting their shop by it. I'm shopping with the folks that have those little unassuming ads for 5 eggs at 50, even though I don't want their eggs!

PS: If you read this Kaylin, I'm always up for a good discussion. I'm sad that you withdrew all your comments, I wasn't the only one trying to give a bit of advice but if I offended you, I'm really sorry, just trying to help about the lack of potential for making money from raw fruit. Don't stop posting, you seem like a really nice enthusiastic player.
