Does my base need any improvements?

Here is my base:

And my question is, does anyone see any improvements that can be done to improve the efficiency of the base?

Notes about my base:

- I know it's premature. But I wanted to go this way. I know the pitfalls of premature.
- I am asking about base design, not level of the buildings/walls. I know they have to be upgraded. And they are slowly being upgraded. So saying "your issue is low level buildings" does not help. And is not what I am asking.
- I didn't buy any of my town hall upgrades with gems. I know using gems is not bad in this game, but I wanted to earn the town hall upgrades the hard way. So I did. And I'm going this way for the rest of the upgrades too. I might buy builder 4 and 5 though to help out the developers.
- I get the occasional 100% defeats. But for the majority I get about 65% at 0%-10% and 35% at around 55%. Just enough to get the one star and defeat me. That's not my town hall. That's 55% of other buildings. I know I'm only at a low trophy level, but at my level I can defend well enough, as not needing to farm much or at all to get enough resources to keep upgrading.

So is there anything related to the bade layout/design that anyone thinks could do with a fix?

One thing is your Air defense are too easy to take down, once it's done I can get in with giants + healer.

I was thinking of moving the air defences into the middle and putting the mortars on the outside but hmm not sure. That's my one weakness. My air defences are a little unprotected. Archers can take them out pretty easily. So I need an idea of what to do about that, still thinking.

And I have one left over little cannon on the outside, not sure what to do with that. Not upgraded cause it's kinda in a bad spot. (my inner defences have no spaces left for it) Maybe I can put it somewhere and upgrade it. Not sure.

Mortar on the outer layer is not good either. They're long range, weak at short.

As you can see, there is an order into which defense are closer or farther from the center. First X-Bow (you would soon have i suppose), then mortar, then wizard with air def, and finally cannon tesla and archer tower.

I just love the air defence you got there. Few archers and bloons, 100% without breaking a sweat...

That is to say, perhaps find bit better location somewhere deeper in the base. Archer tower is most suitable to such cloisters in the corners, I think. Otherwise... I like vaults myself :) so when you get your defences up, that's a 1* base for sure.

By 1* base, I mean, getting more than 1* victory isn't an easy task. So it's a complement ;)

Thanks for the advice. I've moved the air defence closer in to the centre and filled the corner squares with archer towers. And I'll see how that goes. And I'll see where the best place for the rest is. And I'll follow your order of buildings.

Seriously though good vaults are like that. Tough as nails to get in, but if you do, it's all for the picking. Risk vs reward. Anyway now I just have to slowly upgrade the buildings. Thanks.

I knew about order of buildings to have everything protected but not as specific as that. Seems we all learn something. I'll see how I go with this new set up and if it does better. All trial and error. I'm not going for trophies at the moment, just upgrading defences. I need many more upgrades before I can seriously think about trophy hunting. But that's ok. I'm enjoying where I am now.

And as an offside comment.

Honestly i think you would know better about upgrading too fast so honestly just play catch up and work on getting ur defenses and walls up MOST COMMON MISTAKE EVER!

What would really work neatly, I think, is to put archer towers in the corners, make new cloisters to the moat in the middle and placing teslas in those, and then air defences directly behind the tesla-cloisters. Wb protection with the extra cloisters, very good air protection all around and pretty impenetrable ground def, once you get everything upgraded. If your clan donates well, try to fit the CC next to your TH.

Made such a build on paper long ago, but went different way eventually. If you want to read more about vaults, check this out :)

I rushed my TH a bit, too, and it all turned out ok :)

I chose this style of play fully knowing it's pros and cons. And I am aware I need to upgrade things. And I am slowly doing this. It's only a mistake if you get a high level town hall and not understand the implications of it. I do, this includes the loot won/lost ratios, who will be attacking me etc etc.

Yes for most people it's a mistake. But there are pluses of this method. You get all the buildings up at once and can slowly buy low levels of most of them and work up from there. Different style to maxing out each base before you upgrade the town hall one level.

To me the biggest mistake is choosing a style you don't find fun. And yeah the lack of fun is a trap many people new to the game fall into. Hence the stickied topic about it.

To OJM, I'll try exactly that now and see how it works. Nothing lost to try it. Thanks. It seems good. And I agree the trick is to fit everything inside. There's not much space there, but I'll fiddle with it and post up the new design in a bit.

I've read all the advice given here. And I have edited my base design somewhat (based on the advice given). And this is what I have come up with after spending a while thinking about it.
