yup. I'm in Silver 1 and gold 3 too with a new TH10, best loot so far.
Gold 2 and 1 is the worst and its very difficult to go Sub1000, they hit really hard there

Do not do this. Defense is so overrated after a certain point. If you are getting 1-2 starred in war, then you will still be getting 1-2 starred in war with infernos or not. Base design is a very big part. On top of the fact that if you do upgrade all your defenses, you are going to start attracting people with better troops. It's a lot of work for nothing and you will be much better off facing weaker defenses with better troops. Or you can bust your butt to upgrade defenses, do poorly in war for a LONG period and have the frustration of trying to go against solid TH10s in war. Hmm tough one.
I don't understand why people think you need to build all your defenses right away. It's the mentality that gets instilled in everyone, because of the beatings they took at lower TH levels. Once you hit Th9/10 you aren't an easy mark anymore, even with much less than max defenses. Most people can't 3 star a new th9, never mind a mid-max one. When you build your defense, all that does is match you with a tougher opponent. If war was based on TH level alone, then it would make sense, but it's not. I'm glad most people don't do this, it makes it MUCH easier for the people who do.
So you went to TH10, built nothing new, no new buildings of defenses?? Then suddenly got matched with strong TH10s?? Even if you built infernos, you wouldn't be matched with strong 10s right away. Just upgrading camps, sf and lab, should barely increase your opponents strength. You are either super max TH9(30/30) heroes, max lavas or maybe built some d or maxed freeze and other troops. Or it could have just been a fluke match up that happens in war sometimes.
Not sure if anyone has said this yet. Why not just go to th10 and do your upgrades on it and stuff but not change your war base?
Because that defeats the whole point of this thread lol. If you build the extra defenses, whether you put them in your war base or not, your war weight will go up. It's based on what you have built, not just what you use on your war base. The point is to go to TH10 ONLY for the offensive benefits. If you do the defense also, you will end up getting paired with harder bases, negating the offensive upgrades you got.
If all works right for you, you will still be paired with TH9s(maybe a little tougher/closer to max), but have TH10 offense, that is able to attack them much easier. The negatives are that your regular base will offer more loot(cap is raised at TH10, no loot penalty for TH10s attacking you), while not having better defenses to protect it. For me this is not a problem as I get mostly sniped and I raid one boosting session at night, so really only twice a day I am offline without a shield. My level 20+ heros and lego/lava walls stop most attackers anyways.
