Hi guys, im new to this forum, but not to hayday ofcourse. Now i'm having trouble catching a few fish. I just need a few more, so I guess some more rare fish were luck. But i've been trying for weeks now to catch certain fish. I'm talking about the grass carp in area 2 and the blackbull?something in area 9 with green lure. Also the brook trout in thee area most right. But it' always some lame fish I caught before Now i'm reading some posts about small lure (what is that) and small circles. Sometimes i think indeed i see a smaller circle, so I think bingo! Anyone have any ideas? Because it's getting pretty frusstrating. I have the golden trout but I guess that was luck too. So first i wanna get some more expierience before i try that one. Thanks in advance!
Edit: I did some reading on other pages and here's what I found The inner circle has to be very small. At the start play with it a little to the left and right, if it's starts fighting hard, that's your fish? Is that correct? Any others pointers? Because i tried to catch the Brook Trout, it had a small circle and it bounced from left to right real quick, so I thought that was it. But it was yet another Salmon. How can I tell the difference?
Now with the event I'm trying to catch the Carp and Red Tailed Catfish. Seeiing as the Zanders is also caught in every area besides area 4, would it be wise to use area 4 for the carp? I would try other areas too but I'm out of lures because I wasn't preparing for this event. Plus I've been fishing for a while now, only 4 to go!
Schamibijf - pay attention to the inner circle size. You won't mistake a salmon for a brook trout if you do that. The chart on page 130 of this thread (they try to keep it at the end, so it moves, but it will be near the end of the thread) has very useful info.
When people talk about circle size, they mean the inner circle you see when the fish bites. What size circle each fish has is on the chart. Small means the very smallest - the fish just barely fits in it.
The special event fish, like Zanders, have circles just a little larger than that. Smaller than medium, but bigger than the smallest size. Also, the outer circle contracts very slowly for event fish.
If you want to keep trying for a grass carp during the event, you can. If you watch the size of the inner circle and the way the outer circle behaves, you will know if it's an event fish before you land it. If it's not what you want, let it go. You won't lose your lure.
Thanks for your reply. I've looked at the chart and have a pretty good idea now. But I still have 2 problems. I'm trying to catch the event fish Carp, but twice now I've got a Zander. Is there any way how I can tell the difference? Because according to the chart they are basicly in every area and with green lures. It wouldn't be a big problem if I had more lures, but I didn't prepare for this event and was busy fishing last few days.
My second problem is the Brook Trout. I keep cathing Salmon. According to the chart they both have small circles. Any way to tell the difference? Or should I just keep trying?
Just caught a Red Tailed Catfish on a friends phone btw :p with a wormm and first try. Gotta try this at home!
You can't tell. At least, I can't.
Carp are more likely to bite on gold lures than Zanders, according to the fishing book. But that's an expensive way to catch a carp. If you keep trying, you will eventually catch one. (I have caught many using just green lures. Just caught one a minute ago, in fact.)
Brook Trout prefer green lures and Salmon prefer blue. But they will bite both, so it might just be a matter of luck.Quote:

Thanks, will try a green lure for the Brook Trout.
Too bad you can't tell the difference between the Zander and Carp. Normally it wouldn't really be an issue as I would just keep trying, but I don't have any lures left, I've spent all week fishing, I also wasn't too busy with what event was coming.
Anyway, Red Tailed Catfish is in, although it's an easy one to spot and catch, I'm happy it's in. Just 4 more total, Carp, Speckled Dace, Brook Trout and Bullhammer something..
Feels good to go trough the fishing book and seeing all pictures, instead of grey!
Yay, Carp is in. Now that wasn't so hard, don't know why I made such a thing out of it :p All event fish done now, just 3 more regular fish :)
When. You say small lure what do mean? I've seen that said before. So am abit confused.
Wanted to also so Thanks for all the help. I was just stumbling along and using not the best suggestions. Hehee.
i like the fishing so I always look forward to event weekends, now that I understand what Im doing now. So one just Thank You for all that take the time to come and share it.
