How to upgrade after new patch?

I have two level 8 TH's and for the last month can no longer save up enough loot to upgrade. I use to hide in low trophy levels when I had much loot until I could use it for an upgrade, but that does not work any more and I get attack seconds after I log off. Also leaving my TH out for snipers no longer works as people now just want loot and no longer care about trophy level. I also only use barbs and archers to max out my returns, but after a raid, I need to wait for troops to biuld up again, I log off and get attacked by a TH 9 with their queen and level 6 troops that just blow past all my defences. I can not save up 20 000 DE to upgrade my king or 2.5 million E to upgrade my troops. This new patch ruined the game for me, I hear higher level players love it as now they can smash us lower level guys.

Do a two hour barch boost 2 barracks, spells, and king for 40 gems. After that it wont matter how much the next attacker takes.

Judging from your post, you really need to use the 'stay online' method to shield your resources post matchmaking update. if you are having that much trouble keeping resources. (like the above poster said a boost would benefit you in this scenario)

I am not a TH8 (but I think that TH is junk anyhow and happily skipped over it in my alts due to the AQ n L6 troops tromping my base at that stay. I did get my farming troops up, and went up to 9 to get my own AQ and start on my own L6 troops)

The new matchmaking goes both ways, so you should be getting matched up vs THs you can handle. TH7 is Prime bounty for TH8; as is lowbie TH8s and premie 9s without X-Bows and low turrets, plus any dead/dying or abandoned base.

if your exposed TH is not working then it is obviously time to rethink your base strategy.

I mentioned in another thread, you can still have your TH exposed, but place it in a way that the attacker will need to take it out to get to your storages. thus shielding you. I do this by putting my TH on the edge of my base with in range of a few turrets, obviously protected (not the troll trap ♥♥♥♥) but not Heavily protected, seen? I want my resources with the most coverage. with this method, a few archers can actually snip my TH in one small spot. any other spot will be splattered by mortar and AT coverage. it has worked well. since most folks spam a bunch of unnecessary troops to get my 'easy' TH and loot bonus win. but leave my loot alone. (partially due to depleted army) and its usually cheap T1 troops or an AQ that can cloak and not be heavily damaged for the 'easy win'. The folks that can take my loot usually use 2 or more spells and T2 or higher troops, (and therefore deserve what they can get)

now I know TH8 is quite limited in protection of loot as it is, but when I was TH 8 pre-update, I tried to protect heavily only 3-to-4 of the 7 storages.. and only keep one bulk resource. if you have Elix upgrade, do walls so you can keep your gold low and use those storages to tank for the primary resource you are protecting, and swap once you do the upgrade.

If you cannot raid in sessions, it will be much harder to save resources. but you surely realize this no? if you have low leveled turrets then its no wonder you are being squashed on a regular. its part of the deal too.

time to adjust.
keep only one resource and play in sessions are your best bets atm with no picture of your base and not knowing what league you farm in..there is no more 'hiding' that strategy does not work anymore.

Keep online and attack more.

Go into a trophy higher range where there are less predators. Try 1400+. But really this game isn't about saving up, and the casual players won't be able to progress much after a certain point.

Go up in cups. Try that. If that doesn't work then boost and stay online.

I've seen attacks where they don't even try to reach 50%,All are hungry for loot.

First, place your TH outside but semi protected. Lines the base with non lootvstuff...builder huts, barracks etc. Taking those out hits the magic 40% level for a shield.

Compartmentalize your storages spaced apart and covered by at least three different types of weapons. Goal is to slow the attack and lessen the loot raided.

Walls at least....minimum...purple. Minimum. Skull walls built ASAP starting at priority attack lanes. (and inside your border walls. Border walls go skull AFTER the inside walls.)

Max out your production. Mines, drills and collectors.

Of course they don't care about trophies or league bonus in the lower leagues. Why would they? The reason they are down there is for loot

Go up to gold 1 or crystal 3 if you want people to snipe you. They seem to care a lot more about trophies up there. I've moved to silver to destroy easy bases like yours and I could care less if I leave before 50% or not as long as I get what I came for.

Gold 1 and crystal you will get a bunch of people trying to snipe for crystal/master for their gem bonuses.

Play 6 hours straight rest and play another 6 hours straight a day(total 12 hours)
i am sure you gonna have enough loot even for wall
the things is grinds like hell dont be offline if yourbase is weak or in lower throphy even in higher throphy with outside th you still get hit hard
so some of it just matter of luck
