Is it time to revise how long battles last?
Though I made a few comments on some other threads about this issue, I feel it is necessary to present the argument here in its own proper thread.
When battle time was set to 3 mins the highest TH was TH8, there was no 4th mortar, no 4th air defence, no air sweeper, no skeleton traps, no level 12 collectors and mines etc. So, over the course of the previous years many additions were made to the game in the form of new buildings, new traps, and increased hitpoints of existing buildings. True, the hitpoints of a few buildings were reduced, but the overall effect was definitely an increase of the total number of hitpoints of the base and of the complexity of the game.
I agree that the addition of each new feature has a minimal/negligible effect on battle time. The cumulative effect of all of them, however, is now noticeable. 3 mins used to be a very comfortable length of time to destroy a base completely, provided you had a sound strategy, but not any more.
Is it not time SC increased battle time to 3min 30 sec or something? Yes, I know that many of you think that whoever fails to 3 star a base within the window of time allowed should have come up with a better strategy, but that is not my point here. My point is that bases have gotten bigger and stronger, and it should be as comfortable timewise to destroy a base today as it was two years ago.
