Travesty's Road to Max Townhall 10(Formatted Better Now)

Hello guys, my name is Travis and I have been playing clash for about a year now.
Recently I maxed out my walls, and decided it was time for TH 10. I gem time and boost often when I can. I would say I play about 2 hours on average per day, unless I have school work or dance competitions. I am a part of Altar of Heroes, which, in my opinion, is one of the greatest farming clan there is and ever will be.

As you can hopefully see in the picture, my gold storages max, and my elixir storage's are close to max. This season I went hard since I had my wisdom teeth taken out, and farmed 93 walls in 7 days.

Unfortunately this left me with about 9 days on my town hall, but I am not about to wait on that. As you can see in the picture above, hopefully, I hit 795 attacks won this season. I probably will not average that much since I usually do not look like a chipmunk(wisdom teeth surgery). As you can see, my hero levels are as followed:

My plan for today is to focus on getting all the new buildings. My overall plan is to max heroes, and max defenses. The walls, however, are not a priority to me because I don't like the way they look. I plan on updating this as much as I can. I know for a fact that I will update tomorrow after I gem my TH. This will be a long arduous journey, but I plan to make the best of it. Also, once I fully recover from my wisdom teeth being pulled out, I will put break dance side clip progressions, for anyone who wants to see that(thirsty for views much? ya I guess). Day 2 June 8 2015
I put down all the new buildings (except de drill) which include both infernos, xbow,and extra traps, and collectors. I also gemmed lab and spell factory because those are very important buildings to have. Unfortunately my golem is still upgrading in Labratory(7 days left now), so I had to free up Elixir storages and make a zap. Once my BK finishes, I will work on pushing the new AT and Cannon up little by little, until right before I go to sleep, where I plan onputting the last new building, the DE drill down. The loot has been decent.Will probably update this next week when my infernos and xbow complete, for now with my other builder going to work on the small things to get my new stuff toTH 8-9, while putting excess resources into zaps.

Day 7 June 14 2015
So, I have finally got one of my infernos towers done. Pretty hyped about that. My other one will be done in a couple hours, and my next plan is to work on army camps(three left as you can see). My reason behind this is the fact that as a TH 10, 220 BAM is not strong enough to even do collector raids that I get alot when farming. I plan on keeping my two heroes awake until I get my 240 army spaces. I'm currently at 5 zaps, and despite the loot seemingly drying out in silver, when I use 5 builders at a time, I often find my self with full gold and elix. It's a bit of a waiting game at the moment. Once my golem research finishes up in the lab, my priorities will be farming troops. I have about 6 hours left on Golem research, and my next upgrade will be level 6 minions. Than archers, barbs, giants. After that it isn't very important to me in what order I upgrade. As you can see in the picture, I have started my Clan Castle upgrade, because like the army camps, it offers a direct increase in attacking power, with its 5 additional troop space.

Day 17 June 24, 2015
As of now, one camp is finished, and another is soon to follow. In about 4 days, all my camps will be upgraded as well as my CC giving me a much stronger ability to BAM my way through bases. In about 5 days my minions will be maxed, and I will start my archer upgrade. It is mainly a waiting game ATM, as I said before. My plan next after my army camps are done and CC, is to focus on the inferno towers(which I already have one down, and to work on my wizard towers. I plan on keeping one builder on my inferno, one builder on a wizard tower, and one builder on the premature defenses(archer tower and cannon), and the last builder to work on traps. I will continue this until my inferno towers are maxed. Heros will start going down once I have level 7 BAM, but for now they will stay awake and ready for raiding. Also loot seems to have really become scarce this past week, so beware, silver is no longer so great.

Day 21 June 28, 2015

So I finally have finished all my army camps and CC. As I said before, I will try to upgrade my inferno towers one at a time, and 1 wizard tower, while upgrading my new AT and Cannon to TH 9 level. Once they hit TH 9 level, I will put one builder on mortar defense. The extra builder for now is working on traps, but once I have gotten lvl 7 BAM I plan on starting the hero upgrade, which I hope to be able to keep both down, but most likely, I will only able to keep one down at a time. Loots been decent in gold, and it has been, in my personal experience, a little better than silver recently. Will update this next week. Stay tuned

Day 38 July 15, 2015
Sorry for the late update, I have been pretty busy with life recently, and it's been a struggle to play clash of clans actively. Loot has been sucking recently, and my plans have been put on hold of because of that as well as the limited amount of time I have. Also because of the update, I decided to put get the new air sweeper and dark spell factory. I want to go back to working on maxing my splash defenses and infernos, but loot and time is making that quite hard. My archers have hit level 7 finally, and I promptly put my barbs to level 7(currently about 10 days left on that). I also broke my hero rule when I capped out on DE, so there goes that. My current plan due to limited time is to try keeping all builders active, even if it means I have to do collector mines. I will try my best to update this next week.

With time becoming more scarce, and loot being really horrible, I have been struggling to stick with my plan. I haven't been able to keep my all my builders on defenses, which is pretty bad. The plan right now is to just upgrade collectors when I can't upgrade a defense. Soon however, this won't be a valid option since they are close to maxing out. I got about 10 days till I max GiBam composition(wall breakers). All in all, with the loot being real bad, and time not being a big thing that I have, it hasn't gone as planned.

College happened. Winter Break now. Current plan is to max out defenses, than focus on DE to max heroes. Once I max heroes, I plan on moving up to Townhall 11. Maxing heroes, though, might take a long time.

Happy New Years! So farming has been tough, as we all know, but recently I've had more time, and time=loot, so I was able to miraculously get enough loot to put all 5 of my builders down. As you can tell in my picture, both heroes have hit 31, my queen is going to 32, and once she finishes, I should have enough DE to push my king to 32 as well. Walls have been sidelined since I only use elixir for them, and I'm starting to find out that now, with very little collector raids, elixir is hard to accumulate. Most of the bases I raid are easy storage raids, or storage raids+collectors are full. Because of this spells and full armies are usually needed. During this one gem boost, I have started to use earth quake and rage spell combinations(1gem boosted) with gibarch and 6wb. This is effective against mid-tier TH9, low-tier TH 10, and is very fast with the 1 gem boost.

Things that I've learned so far being a TH 10 is that DE is plentiful. It's the easy resource, rather than TH 9, where it was the hard. Gold is needed greatly, and is relatively hard to farm. After the loot bonus was taken from TH snipes, and collector raids was killed , elixir is probably the hardest resource to farm. Anyways till next week

Progress has been pretty nice. I have put all my archer towers down, and only have cannons left after they finish. Right now, I'm debating whether or not I should pull the trigger on TH 11, or stay at TH 10 farming my heroes until they max, and do walls on the side. Archer queen currently going to 33, and almost have enough dark elixir to put my king down. Another option that comes to mind is maxing out archer queen, then going to TH 11. This would definitely cut down the time I need to stay at TH 10, but it would also mean I will have more walls left to do(but walls are just for looks at this point). All in all, loot has been much better, and school starts for me today, so progress will definitely slow down.

I have maxed all structures except walls and heroes. My lab has maxed all elixir upgrades for TH 10, DE upgrades are far from max since I haven't touched them as I'm working on maxing my heroes. I think my journey to max TH 10 will be coming to a close soon, most likely as soon as my archer queen hits level 38, I will place a builder on my TH. My journey is ending before I max both heroes because of the unexpected TH 11 update that I didn't foresee when I originally planned this journey. I want to begin working on the Grand Warden ASAP, and I don't like my builders not working if they can be working. I expect my queen to hit level 38 within the next month. As I get closer to TH 11, I will be posting my last few updates. TH 10 has been a grind, I used GiBam pretty much the whole way through. I didn't farm gold and elixir like I did as a TH 9, I farmed mainly DE, because my hero level was my main weakness. Now having a level 35 king, and a level 36 queen(which is going to 37 as of now), I believe that I'm close to maxing heroes, and going back to gold and elix farming.

Tips for Farming DE that I've found useful are this:
-Look for DE collectors at all times: 3 Level 6 half-full usually give me around 1300-2700DE, depending on how full they are
-GiBam was my most successful composition for farming DE, here is my queue composition.
1st Barrack- Full of Giants
2nd Barrack-3giants 2wb rest barbs(doesnt matter order could be 40 barbs 3 giants 2 wb rest barbs)
3rd Barrack- 2wb and rest archers
4th barrack-2wb and rest archers
DE Barracks- 8minions each, or during boost(where I boost regular barracks, just keep them full cause they will cook about 14-16 before the camps are full)
-Start searching at 165, do 10-20 searches come back, 10-20 searches come back, till full camps. ,hopefully you will find some nice DE in collectors
-My average 1 hour boost is about 20-25k DE(without queen), my highest being 36k DE in 1 hour(with queen)

Can anyone give some feedback of how silver league is for TH10 farming? Im currently barching in masters, DE is decent heroes 30/28 but gold is slow, and I only have ATs and Cannons left to max defence wise. Walls lego/lava 175/75. Troop lvls: 99% maxed.

My clan and I are having a great time farming Gold and Elix down here(including many TH 10's). We recently had a Gold Grab competition, and my leader Ash, a TH 10, farmed 281,765,676 gold in 7 days. I find the gold and elixir to be plentiful down here. My only pet peeve is that you often get zapped without getting a shield. It's hard to raid without boosting, especially if DE is important, because often times you can get zapped 3-4 times losing around 4-5k de without getting a shield, than get hit hard by a strong army losing resources as well.

Haha good luck my friend! You should post your road to max TH 10 without gems. It will be a very hard journey, but I think alot of the current free to play players will enjoy seeing someone like themselves max their TH. It would be inspirational.

Note: Clash of Clans marketing strategy may make those current free to play players become Gemmers lol

TH 9 grind is fun. At the beginning of TH 9 I stayed in silver one, around 1250. When I had all my new defenses and xbows complete I stayed around 1500-1600 trophies to farm DE and gold/elix. I would say that the loot system has changed though, so I'm not sure where the best place is to farm. I would try your luck with silver 2, if you can boost, or if your DE is not likely to be zapped/not alot of resources available.

I farmed with Barch in the beggining, but after joining Altar of Heroes I have converted to BAM. Barbs, Archers, and Minions. When I boost, its 2 barracks barb(the first two because they build the fastest), 2 barracks arch, 2 barracks Minions(these barracks I do not boost, because I only want around 10-16minions in the final composition). When I'm not boosting, I'll make 14 minions(7 in each Dark Barrack) and have barbs and archers in the other.

DE farming wise, I didn't really focus on it, it just sorta came with the gold/elix. But when I farm de solely I use a GiBAM combination with WB or BAM with WB. GiBam consists of 1 barrack giants 1barrack barbs 2 barrack archers 2 barrack minions, all regular barracks boosted, and I usually throw in 4-6 WB in the barrack with barbs. If your not boosting, I would suggest creating 10 minions, and putting 2 wb in barb barrack, and 1-2 wb in arch barracks.

I will be more thorough with this if more people ask, but good luck on TH 9 grind.

Don't worry. I will tell you guys when the next update will come. Right now, once my inferno's complete, I will post an update. It won't be daily, but I plan on at least updating every week, unless I tell you guys that an update will come later because, for example, all builders are stuck for 14 days. Nice thread. I also reached TH10 yesterday and plopped down both infernos, gemmed the spell factory and started lab upgrade. Waiting for a couple of builders to become free to start xbow.

BTW, I think you wasted gems by gemming your lab if an upgrade was still going on. While the lab was being upgraded for 6 days, your golem research would also have continued. I don't see why you gemmed your lab if you couldn't start a new upgrade :confused:

Also, I have recieved a loot shock since reaching TH10. I have been in the Gold leagues since I was TH7, and I never faced any loot shortage except during the 'elixir for lower lvl walls' period. I will go down to Silver to see if loot is better there, because right now it is frightening. The gold is consumed by nexting and the army consumes my elixir. If I didn't have lvl 20 and lvl 15 heroes to help hit new TH9 for 300k/300k/2000, it would have been terrible!

I didn't realize that upgrades continue while lab is under upgrade. Noob mistake I guess. And recently loot hasn't been very good, but you should try this site http://www.clashofclansforecaster.com/ for better times to go on and farm. It works 8 times out of 10 for me.

You really should test this. Every time I've upgraded a TH, it progresses. Sometimes you have to force quit/restart the village, but my experience has been counter to your statement.

I'm aware that this is counter to SuperCell's help files, but Clash of Clans wikia agrees that it progresses, so two very authoritative sources that I'd normally trust aren't in agreement

Note that the help files don't explicitly state time is lost, just that both finish in the end. I'd read it to imply the time is lost, but the specific wording does not directly say that. (it still should be revised to match what really happens better)

Originally the research would pause if lab gets upgraded.. However this has changed by SC maybe a couple of months ago.. Now the research continues while lab is being upgraded.. When I upgraded to th10 about 1 month ago, I timed my troop research to have 6 days left once TH finishes. I then upgraded lab and 6 days later, the troop research finished too along with lab.

I can vouch this is true in Jan-2015 when I reach TH10, Golem (TH9) still upgrading in lab with 6+ days balance. Started lab upgrade 7? days. When lab was done a week later, it shows Golem balance 6+ days (as per a week ago) resume from where it paused.
I went to attack farming. Come back, the lab says Golem research is done!

it does not pause. my lv2 valk upgrade has 3 days left before its done then I upgraded my laboratory (new th9). the time when the lab comes, lab says valk upgrade is done.

I'm going to be checking this in about 15 days (TH9 upgrade started on my no defense account) Ash is highly knowledgeable so maybe it changed back recently. There's no harm to having a lab upgrade going, and I expect to get 5 free days (might not).

You mean they always paused? They used to keep going. In a past update they changed it but didn't tell us. There's many things in updates that they don't announce, some more important than others. Like dragons breath when attacking...

So yea, maybe Supercell changed this secretly at some point. Like Purple Sprite stated, Supercell makes a lot of hidden updates to the game that they don't mention.

I successfully did my lab and giants not too long ago. (Couple week after update)

You need to close the app after lab finishes and log back in and it'll be upgraded.

I'm going to update this as soon as my inferno towers are complete to lvl 1, which is about 1 day 8-10hrs. I plan on updating this on a weekly basis, just not daily, so I have enough room to place the whole road to max here.

Ahh, I am using another layout right now! I actually have 4 layouts at my disposal(one in my war layouts)

I got 5 free days. Well 4 and 22 hours. I had that much left on Rage 5 and when the TH9 lab finished, Rage was done also.

Nice going! I also got to th10 in April and have been doing decently. What I want to ask is after the last server maintenance, loot in silver has dried out, so where would you be farming gold and elixir now? And where are your clanmates finding the good loot?

Mainly they have stayed in silver, just takes longer to find good loot. Some have gone up though, in Masters and Champions league to farm league bonus. It's whatever suits you, right now I don't think we will get something as good as loot was in silver before maintenance anytime soon.
