I too have read that. I believe (don't quote me) it was in the release notes? Or maybe I am thinking of the blurb about not being so quick to establish a match? Don't remember for sure. But I would argue that the match making is worse since the release. At least in our case.
I agree with this statement....mostly. The bottom line is, until you see the opponents in action there is no clear indicator of how the war will play out. I don't mean to imply otherwise. With that said, TH level is a baseline for the structures and troops available to that player. Those players running .5 strategies have used the matching system to their advantage to great success because of the troops their TH level affords them.
In my original post I specifically stated that 'war 2' opponents had some rushed bases and the match up was not as uneven as it would appear on TH level alone. I posted the TH numbers in the interest of simplicity and brevity.
But that highlights the real spirit of my thread. How does the match making algorithm compare two bases and declare them equal(ish)? I know you can't just say all TH10s are the same, the difference between a fully maxed TH10 and a new TH10 is astronomical. Even at TH8 the difference is sizeable. But how is it that in 2 of our last 3 wars we've had a new TH9 'matched up' with a middle of the road TH10 with lvl 25+ royals (to our TH9s <10)?
