[TH8 - 10] Farming champ league bonus to max lava walls and heroes
UPDATE
Hi all,
Due to the recent change in the match making above 3200 cups the strategy below should be modified a bit.
The change in match making is that the new match making is now also used above 3200 cups so there is no reason to lose the battle on purpose when you get above 3200 cups.
What I suggest is to keep looking for exposed town halls but at the same time look for exposed DE where you cannot get to the town hall. Attack bases where you can get at least 2000 DE and use those loses to fall below 3200 cups. This extra DE makes a big difference.
You could go higher in cups and I tried going up to champion 2 at 3600 cups but the number of easy bases are smaller at the higher cup level.

ORIGINAL POST
Hi all,
Lately I have had great success with building my walls and having enough de. I might play more than some but I am not playing everyday. Usually I do not play in the weekend and not everyday during the week but probably most weeks I play 4 days.
I have not bought gems on this account and have not really spent any gems except for the 5 builder huts. I have 3k gems saved up which I might use to speed up king or queen when I sit on 200k de.
I am th9 but this also works for th8 and th10's. Not sure about th7. My base is rushed, I have maxed my x-bows and wt for th9 and the remaining defensive towers are th7 or th8 level.
My goal is:
* Keep laboratory going at all times
* Both heroes upgrading until level 30
* 1 builder free for walls
* 2 builder on other buildings
So how do I do it. A little background on match making, see http://forum.supercell.net/showthrea...er-Matchmaking. On April 30 the matchmaking algorithm was changed. Before the matchmaking was based on cups purely - after the changes people above 3200 cups use the old cups based match making and people below 3200 cups uses the new matchmaking. In the new matchmaking the system tries to find townhalls close to your own townhall levels. At 31XX cups you will normally see th9 and th10 with the occasional th8 thrown in. Also at 31xx cups you see bases down to crystal 1 whereas at 3200+ cups you will generally only see masters 1 and champion bases which are much harder than crystal 1 bases.
Old matchmaking
* Purely based on cups. Generally +- 1 league from you
New matchmaking
* Above 3200 cups works like old matchmaking
* Below 3200 cups tries to find th's close to you th
* At 31xx you see bases many leagues below you which are generally easier.
The strategy simply is to farm your way up to champs league and drop into the 31xx range while keeping your champions badge.
* You have to stay online and farm in sessions. Probably one hour at a time is enough but the longer the better.
* As much as possible keep searching for new bases to attack all the time. If you use all your troops on one base then start searching again when you have around 100 troops so you might find snipes when your army is training.
* When you go above 3200 cups lose the next attack on purpose to stay in the 31xx trophy range.
* The only drawback is that it can be a bit boring to only use BAM. If I am bored of BAM I will usually cook up some other army for fun or do some war attack.
The champions league win bonus is 180.000 gold, 180.000 elixir and 1200 dark elixir.
I have not made statistics on number of wins per hour. When I have randomly checked it is between 5 and 10 wins per hour. If we assume average of 7 wins per hour then the loot bonus alone is 1.260.000 gold, 1.260.000 elixir and 8400 dark elixir.
For troop composition I use BAM with barracks like this:
* 1 rack barbarian
* 3 racks archers
* 2 racks minions
The exact troop numbers depends on what I used in previous battles.
For spells it differs a little but generally 1 or 2 lightning and 2 or 3 rage.
The bases to attack.
Pure snipes
These are bases with the town hall surrounded by decorations and/or non defensive buildings so your troops can't be attacked and there is no room for hidden tesla or bombs.
These I always attack with 5 or so troops.
Possibly trapped th's without defences in range
These are bases where the town hall generally are in or close to the corner or the map. Tesla and all king of bombs and skeleton traps very often pops up so you have to have enough troops to deal with them.
These I always attack if I have around 150 troops. If I have used around half the troops and things looks bad I drop a rage spell and that have so far not failed.
Semi exposed town halls
These are town halls with are in range of defenses but still has the town hall exposed, maybe behind one layer of walls. This kind of attacks are always a case by case basis if you should attack. If it has multiple mortars, wizard towsers or multi target infernos in range then you should probably next. Even if you win you will likely expend your entire army.
I attack more than half of the semi exposed town halls I see.
Centered town hall bases
Generally taking these with BAM is very hard. The exceptions are if it is a town hall 8 and you are town hall 9 or 10. Very under developped bases can often be taken.
This is always a case by case basis but generally you should next these.
I will reserve the next posts for a log of how I do.
Using 3 star armies
Sservis makes a good point that not playing in sessions but attacking for 3 stars will also work for pushing up to champions league.
