Valkyries Dragons and Healers (TH8)

A new strategy I'm testing out.

Two dragons for creating the funnel for valkyries, used similarly to funneling in a mass drag attacks. If the dragons happen to destroy a few defenses or even the CC troops in the process that's an extra bonus. ;)

Valkyries backed by healers is the meat of the attack. Using healers mean more rage spells can be used, since healers provide the healing. And valks work great when they can get constant healing.

"But what about those pesky ADs?" you might be asking by now. Well, that's what CC balloons are for. They also benefit from the rage spell and can usually take out one AD, while tanking for the healers at the same time.

Add some wizards, WBs and archers and the attack strategy is complete. Don't even need that many wizards to support the valkyries, so a few of them can be held back to use them to kill stray defenses the main attack might have missed.

BK is used as a distraction for wizards. It's better to keep BK away from the healers, since he will "steal" the healers away from the valkyries which is undesirable.

Unluckily the balloons ended up running into every single air bomb, blowing them out of the sky in matter of seconds. :( After that the ADs easily shot down the healers. :straightface: So I think I will start bringing one extra balloon to test for air bombs first.

I did like how the lower dragon triggered and took out the CC of wiz and witch. :)

I've improved my deployment a bit and now I'm having drags survive the initial part of the attack and actually be helpful in cleaning up at the later stages. Need to rush the ADs before they lock onto the drags for that, so the deployment needs to be a bit faster at the start.

For a while I tried using more troops to protect healers better, but I just couldn't find a good solution. Any troop I bring to shield the healers will get hit by traps. So minions are not an option (semi-good against ADs, but get wiped by air bombs). Balloons are too weak at level 5 (level 6 from CC ones do work nicely though). Dragons take so much damage from seeking air mines.

End the end solution was very simple: bring more healers.

So I ditched the level 5 balloons, added 2 more healers. With four healers I can have two of them killed and still have good amounts of healing left.

Just stop this bad strategy right now, it'll never get you anywhere in wars because the air bombs will eat you alive and loons are way too slow to reach the AD's (most of which are in the core) and is stupid inefficient for farming.

Plus, most of your replays show attacks against AD's that are down and/or wide open bases.

I respect the attempt at trying out new ideas, but it's generally a bad idea to try to mix air and ground attacks because you get hit by all the defenses (air and ground).

It seems that your strategy is very dependent on taking out the AD as quick as possible, and most of that responsibility falls on the loons. That's pretty much the same for all attacks with an air component, and I think all of those bases could have been 3 starred more easily using a traditional dragloon attack.

I would be more impressed if you were able to take out a base with a well laid out AD666, but I think it's going to be just as hard (if not harder) than if you used a dragloon.

Edit: If you really want to have some fun with healers, try a mass wizard + healers attack with a few wall breakers. The wizards have the range to take out the ADs usually without too much damage to the healers. It doesn't work all the time, but it can be fun to watch when it does.

Actually it would be better to have all the ADs in the core, that way the valkyries and wiz can take them out all at once. Also the closer to the core the ADs are the more damage dragons can do on the outside before dieing.

It's nice if balloons can reach an AD and kill it. But I use them mainly to take hits for the healers. A couple of air bombs are not that much of a problem as long as the heal spell can fill up the lost HP.

The only thing I'm really concerned about is air damage, since healers can't heal themselves.

Same can be said about any attack at TH8. I'm all about finding alternative strats, thinking outside the box, trying stuff no one else has though about.

If we all just stuck to the tested/proven strategies then no new strategies would be ever found, everyone relying on a core set of strategies only.

Well, of course it will be harder. Not so much the level of the ADs but the layout. A spread layout would make it tricky reaching all the them on time.

That's one of the reasons I chose valkyries. GB or even DGB won't instantly kill them. And spring traps only kill them one at a time.

1. Well none of the bases you attacked featured an air sweeper that was doing anything at all. With a leveled air sweeper properly configured, your loons aren't going to knock all 3 down before getting torn to shreds, and you'll be lucky if they make it to the second one.

2. Now you're stuck using the heal spells where you don't want them and AD's can cut right through the loons even under the spell. If you attacked 6/6/6 AD's covered by sweepers you'll understand how hopeless this is.

3. Until this attack can do well on real TH8 war bases without pink walls, farming efficiency matters.

4. Well next until you find a base that actually is a decent base, and if it doesn't have a good CC there's no point to youtubing it.

Show me this attack on a maxed, well laid out 8 and I'll be impressed. I don't want to see low level defenses/walls that a maxed 8 offense could take out with any strategy.

I've used Valks to gut an all AD core then drag attacked - works nice. I tend to favor loons for defense targeting but it works

After watching your videos closer. I think I will give it a try. I've done a similar combo but I believe I only used 2 healers and used more dragons (4).

I'm not interested in seeing videos farming where there is no CC and no useful air sweeper because we've already established it's a terribly inefficient farming strategy. If you want to impress people, take down some max TH8 bases that can't easily be dragoned or hogged in wars, otherwise there's no proof that this strategy has any advantages over any of the strategies we already use for high level TH8 3 star gameplay.

Okay I was giving the combo a try.


Some observations



I don't feel like the dragons do much. As far as funneling, their are for efficient ways to do it. Since Valkyrie position themselves inbetween building it is actually fairly easy to do what I call an envelope

Deploy half of the Valkyrie on one side, half on the other. Use 2 wiz to destroy a building on the outside of where you want the Valkyrie to go. Basically so the two groups move towards each other. Then deploy wb in the center at the point of entry.


I've been using 2 quakes and a poison. I soften up the walls where I want to enter. I then use rage and about 6 wb to rip the base wide open. Or I weak the opposite side of where my attack begins (so the valks can rip through the walls easily.


I subbed out 2 dragons for 6 loons and more wiz. At first I used them just as meat shields, blitzing behind valks. I knew this wasn't super effective but was just experimenting.


So I switched it up to surgical deployment on the flanks of the attack. So loons end up distracting the AD while taking out some defenses that might snipe the wizards.


Got my 1st 3 star with it. Worked well on bases where the AD where more centralized and I could basically blitz them and destroy them under rage before many healers where taken out.

Spread out AD was difficult to get my units to behave (also why I wanted more wiz). I found Valkyrie had a tendency on their own to leave random buildings standing. In one raid I opened up the core wide and somehow they left the DE storage totally untouched despite being smack dag in the middle of the attack. I also had one raid where the Valkyrie swept through the base but left the AD largely untouched in a similar frustrating manner.

But if I knocked out the AD before they took more than 2 healers out, the Valkyrie pretty much ran rampant against the rest of the base.

Yeah, it's difficult to justify two dragons just for funneling purposes.

I've also used that "envelope" method of funneling before and it does work. But some bases try to make it difficult so it doesn't work as well on those cases. People try all sorts of things: spread outside buildings, multiple layers of buildings, outside walls, skell traps, teslas, etc.

With dragons the funneling is extremely easy to do and works OK for most bases. I also try to deploy the dragons so that they have a bit of room to do damage before the ADs shoot them down. Also they can help with funneling behind the first wall as well.

Hmm, I'll have to try with balloons again. I found using level 5 loons to snipe defenses on the flanks or back a bit iffy on occasions. Either some traps or tesla pops up and the loons end up dieing before destroying the intended target.

Hmm, I haven't experienced that. Either the valks or the wiz get the buildings in the path of the attack. Maybe I've just been lucky so far. XD

Yes, exactly. A couple of healers out when ADs are down gives the remaining valks/wiz all the time in the world to finish off whatever is left. :)

I wanted something different than the standard "2 golems plus line of wiz" funnel strategy. I knew that healers allow skipping the golem without lacking HP during the attack. Also golems have the bad habit of pulling the healers off everything else. :unsure:

So I searched for another troop which had:

• Target any
• Flies (so healer won't target it)
• Good enough DPS and HP

Dragon is the only one which ticks all the boxes. ;)

I do need to find a base with a level 5 AD (the spell combo doesn't work on level 6), though. But taking one AD down leaves the base wide open for drags to do some serious damage. Also makes it much easier to eliminate the two remaining ADs leaving a few healers alive at the end of the raid.

You still aren't getting enough bang for your buck from the dragons.. Just try earthquake GOVALO for a reason. Get your valks to the core using the earthquakes, heal them in the core, let them take out the death loons, and send in max loons. We've taken out numerous maxed TH8s in wars with CCs and whatnot, whereas you're still showing videos against low TH8s with no CCs that can be taken out a myriad of ways.

Show me a war attack where you three star a maxed 8 with a real CC and a sensible base with this strategy and I'm all ears. But showing TH7 level defenses farming without a CC isn't making much of a case for the strength of an attack, and we've three starred numerous maxed 8s with GOVALO.

Also, I've never said we 3 star 100% of the time with that attack, but it does get 3 stars on upper 8s. If you can make this attack work and make a name for yourself, those are the videos you'll have to show us.

And the CC thing is huge, because you haven't devoted any resources to killing the CC in these attacks. Your typical TH8 defense these days features a dragon and a loon. A max dragon will offset two of your dragons in a war attack given that archer towers will be whittling down the hp of your dragons (plus traps and whatnot), and once those are down you have nothing to take out the loon, which is going to cause a huge problem for your valks.

It's always the same tiring story: "those bases are not maxed, CC is not full, bad layout bases, not war, blah, blah, blah".

One cannot post a few fun multiplayer attacks without the critics coming out of the woodwork.

You've been trying for a month to make a very poor optimization of several troops work with no results that can't be more effectively done from a myriad of other attacking strategies.. If you post something on the forums you're asking for feedback. I'm here because I want to discover new strategies that might be more effective in some way than existing strategies, and this strategy doesn't seem to add anything to our wealth of knowledge.

I dont see any reason to come dow on this guy so hard. I did not see anywhere on here a mention that he just discovered the ultimate Th8 automatic 3 star vs any base attack. He mearly presented a new idea to see if he could use flying troop to tank a bit for valk so their healer doesn't get stolen. It is outside of the box and thought provoking to me. I dont see it being very powerful for max bases in war, but could be useful for pushing, or a wartime base exploit, or just for the hell of it because trying new things is fun.

All the replays are helpful interms of noting deployments and pathing tendencies, someone else might come along and get inspired by them and use an element of this strategy to develop it into a true war powerhorse. I thank you for sharing and giving me something to think about. But until he comes on and declares this the holy grail of war attacks, keep your criticism positive in nature and try offer something that might add to the knowledge base so that others might find something useful here. Just telling him his attack sucks and cant be used in war or for farming has zero relevance to anything he mentioned in this thread

Exactly.

I play Clash to experiment with troops. Try out new exciting things that other people might not have though about. I post my attacks when I find something that looks good.

I mean I'm using the EQ spell to both, help destroy the one AD and weaken walls for WBs. Destroying the AD helps the air troops in the attack, while the weakened walls help the ground troops. On top of that the attack is heavily based on healers which forces a hybrid air-ground army. And it all seems to work to some degree on TH8 bases.

I find it really fun attack to execute, and for me that's what really matters. Having fun.
