Valkyries Dragons and Healers (TH8)

A new strategy I'm testing out.

Two dragons for creating the funnel for valkyries, used similarly to funneling in a mass drag attacks. If the dragons happen to destroy a few defenses or even the CC troops in the process that's an extra bonus. ;)

Valkyries backed by healers is the meat of the attack. Using healers mean more rage spells can be used, since healers provide the healing. And valks work great when they can get constant healing.

"But what about those pesky ADs?" you might be asking by now. Well, that's what CC balloons are for. They also benefit from the rage spell and can usually take out one AD, while tanking for the healers at the same time.

Add some wizards, WBs and archers and the attack strategy is complete. Don't even need that many wizards to support the valkyries, so a few of them can be held back to use them to kill stray defenses the main attack might have missed.

BK is used as a distraction for wizards. It's better to keep BK away from the healers, since he will "steal" the healers away from the valkyries which is undesirable.

Unluckily the balloons ended up running into every single air bomb, blowing them out of the sky in matter of seconds. :( After that the ADs easily shot down the healers. :straightface: So I think I will start bringing one extra balloon to test for air bombs first.

I did like how the lower dragon triggered and took out the CC of wiz and witch. :)

I've improved my deployment a bit and now I'm having drags survive the initial part of the attack and actually be helpful in cleaning up at the later stages. Need to rush the ADs before they lock onto the drags for that, so the deployment needs to be a bit faster at the start.

For a while I tried using more troops to protect healers better, but I just couldn't find a good solution. Any troop I bring to shield the healers will get hit by traps. So minions are not an option (semi-good against ADs, but get wiped by air bombs). Balloons are too weak at level 5 (level 6 from CC ones do work nicely though). Dragons take so much damage from seeking air mines.

End the end solution was very simple: bring more healers.

So I ditched the level 5 balloons, added 2 more healers. With four healers I can have two of them killed and still have good amounts of healing left.

Just stop this bad strategy right now, it'll never get you anywhere in wars because the air bombs will eat you alive and loons are way too slow to reach the AD's (most of which are in the core) and is stupid inefficient for farming.

Plus, most of your replays show attacks against AD's that are down and/or wide open bases.

I respect the attempt at trying out new ideas, but it's generally a bad idea to try to mix air and ground attacks because you get hit by all the defenses (air and ground).

It seems that your strategy is very dependent on taking out the AD as quick as possible, and most of that responsibility falls on the loons. That's pretty much the same for all attacks with an air component, and I think all of those bases could have been 3 starred more easily using a traditional dragloon attack.

I would be more impressed if you were able to take out a base with a well laid out AD666, but I think it's going to be just as hard (if not harder) than if you used a dragloon.

Edit: If you really want to have some fun with healers, try a mass wizard + healers attack with a few wall breakers. The wizards have the range to take out the ADs usually without too much damage to the healers. It doesn't work all the time, but it can be fun to watch when it does.

Actually it would be better to have all the ADs in the core, that way the valkyries and wiz can take them out all at once. Also the closer to the core the ADs are the more damage dragons can do on the outside before dieing.

It's nice if balloons can reach an AD and kill it. But I use them mainly to take hits for the healers. A couple of air bombs are not that much of a problem as long as the heal spell can fill up the lost HP.

I actually just got lucky with matches. Those were the first matches which had good loot and weren't like strong TH9s which I couldn't take.

Besides, I'm still experimenting. Gotta start somewhere right?

Healers make ground damage almost irrelevant. Four healers together with rage spell easily heal more than the combined DPS of defenses (well, the defenses which are active at the same time).

The only thing I'm really concerned about is air damage, since healers can't heal themselves.

Same can be said about any attack at TH8. I'm all about finding alternative strats, thinking outside the box, trying stuff no one else has though about.

If we all just stuck to the tested/proven strategies then no new strategies would be ever found, everyone relying on a core set of strategies only.

Well, of course it will be harder. Not so much the level of the ADs but the layout. A spread layout would make it tricky reaching all the them on time.

Then a GB blows them up all at once. :smirk:

That's one of the reasons I chose valkyries. GB or even DGB won't instantly kill them. And spring traps only kill them one at a time.
