th 9.5 ???

Hi,
Can someone explain exactly what th 9.5 is? What the benefit? Do you upgrade any defense or is it all troop upgrades?

How does it affect war matchups.

TH10 with only TH9 defenses, upgrading offense first (camps, drills, lab, spells, troops). Don't build 3rd xbow or infernos until later.

This is supposed to trick matchmaking into thinking you are a TH9 still, so you might get a TH9 mirror in war more often. If you war a lot this can be a good path to take as long as your current TH9 can stop 3 stars from other TH10.

Thanks for the response. Has anyone tried this? I hate to upgrade to th10 and penalize my clan by the harder match ups. It does sound like an interesting concept. Is anyone currently doing this? If yes, what are the results.

I'm one with absolute TH level. It's either TH9 or TH10, no TH9.5.
TH9.5 will only benefitable in CW's aspects. My clannies who are into CW seems like interested to use this TH9.5 concept. I think it's more of personal preferances. Personally, I'm not into this thing :)

Thanks for the response. Actually my main reason for asking is for clan war. Since the Clan level system came out, war has become the most important thing in my clan. The perks for clan levels are significant imo. So the question remains at th9.5 does this reduce the level of opponent that I will have to face? And does building defenses increase the level of opponent I will face? thanks again for the responses.

When i came to th9 i ug all camps, cc and war troops to max before doing my defence and am currently an 8.5 punching well above my weight in wars

Yes, they are. I once read an article about how traps such as bombs etc will also affected the matchmaking system in CW, which will bring stronger opponent. And yw, OP :o

I personally hate all of this "town hall x.5" nonsense. Upgrade what you want; nobody is forcing you to be in a clan. It would feel like penalizing myself if I didn't upgrade defenses.

If I had the TH9 to TH10 transition to do all over again I would upgrade all my camps, my lab, my spell factory, and then get max freeze (while continuing to upgrade heroes) before I started on the Th10 defenses. As a rule of thumb, don't build or upgrade a defense unless your are ready to face opponents who also have it.
