Nobody enjoys getting looted by lightning spells

I have a theory that a lot of players are not good at raiding and thus can not stay in a good clan long because good clans weed out poor players for poor attacking skills. Skills are developed by practicing. Instead there are people who choose the easy way out of looting (especially dark elixir) by using lightning spells. I do not think that this enhances the game.
My idea.
Lightning shield.
When you purchase a lightning shield, when you log off to defend, it creates a shield above your storages ONLY(not collectors). This shield will be invisible to attackers.
-cost: just like purchasing a regular shield it could cost gems according to duration. OR you could purchase it with elixir, again, could cost more for longer durations.
-purpose: village owner can spend extra resources to protect again cheap play. Thus forcing people to learn how to attack a base instead of making 3-5 lightning spells, which in turn will enhance the game because people are properly learning how to attack a base for a desired purpose(trophies/resources)
Making the purchased shield invisible will evolve the game because if it's visible, players can just go on to the next village and do the same thing.

Some naysayers:
People use lightning for killing cc troops.
-the shield can protect JUST storages so if it was active and when you attack a village, let's say the defending cc troops come out and confronted the attack next to a storage. At this point a lightning is used. If the shield is active, none of the resources will be stolen by the Lightning but the defending cc troops will be hit by this spell.
People use lightning for final % to get trophies(usually when you push)
-no one uses lightning on storages for final percentage. It's always used on builder huts or where the hero stand is.

This shield gives a chance for people who spend their time and resources to farm the hard way to not being looted by people who want to farm the easy way. Not buying the shield at all is an option because this problem usually occurs in gold and lower crystal league.

For the most part, people that DO do this will know that these shields exist so they can't complain when they get no loot for using lightning spells. They will now loot with lightning spells at their own risk.
Another note on this:
One could use lightning spells and get little to no loot on a base.
How many times do people attack a base to loot and leave with little to no loot because of good defense/traps/cc? This is a natural occurrence in the game so I do not think that the games integrity changes at all.

Send me some gems if you like this ;)

But everyone enjoys looting DE with Lightning Spells. For ♥♥♥♥s sake people, get over it.

But it is easy to guess that this is an old, often brought up, growing ever more annoying topic.

If you want to bring up something about blocking the Lightening spell, do a search first. You'll likely get hit with more than a few page full of threads, often repeats.

These threads just keep coming. Terrible idea. No need for a defense to lightning. Play the game and stop crying about such a lame brained attack. Zaps happen, revenge them or get over it.

It isn't that simple, mostly because people can just choose not to play anymore, thinking CoC is a stupid game. We may hear a small percentage of people complain about it, but there is no doubt many that just had it after one too many raids or DE zaps and rage quits.

As 'nice' as it is that there are abandoned bases out there to loot, it also means less people playing, more people giving it a bad review, and that can eat at SC's income.

When I think about all the issues CoC has, I'm surprised SC has been able to keep the thing going so strong and for so long.

So, one way or another this DE zapping consern needs to be addressed so that most people would be at least tolerable of it (preferably fine and accepting); and almost regardless of how stupid the playerbase reaction may seem.

If SC can make big bombs do 1.5 damage to hogs, then SC can make LS do .5 damage to DE storage.

I bet that the vast majority of people complaining about getting zapped have done the same thing to others at least once since they started playing CoC. If you want to ragequit because you are not smart enough to use a farming layout and/or change your league in order to avoid zappers, feel free to do it.

In response to the title, you are wrong. I love it when people zap me. 99% of the time they snipe my TH also. I loose a few hundred DE for a 12 hour shield instead of a few thousand DE and few hundred thousand gold and elixir. Getting zapped is a MUCH better deal. With that in mind . . .

You may not want to have a full army sitting around purpose built for the moment you can revenge them so instead you continue farming and keep 3 or 4 lightning spells on hand just incase they are available to revenge. Eventually you get your sweet reward. TH7 and TH8 however have a very different reason for zapping revenge. Keeping in mind that it makes sense for them to zap in the first place, they have another factor to consider. TH9s and TH10s artificially drop trophies so that they can farm easier bases. They do this for the logical economic reasons that a cheap/fast army can get lots of loot and because there is a much lower chance of somebody strong enough to take it finding you before your TH gets sniped. That's right, as a TH9 or TH10 you get to have ALL weaker villages that have zero chance of revenging you effectively on your log AND you are surrounded by them giving you cheap shields quickly. You are INVINCIBLE!!! There's nothing those weaklings can do to stop you!!! MUAHAHAHA!!! . . . except zap the snot out of your DE.

That's right. The ONLY drawback to farming is that those puny little weaklings you have been picking on all along can zap you. It's the ONLY bad thing about farming. Without that you would be able to play completely risk free. Your loot would be safely removed from the economy because nobody could get to it. It would be AWSOME . . . except that the very concept of being invincible and able to hide all of your loot is game breaking. Nobody should ever be safe from attack and nobody should be able to hide all of their loot. Ever. Zapping is the only reason you might want to consider moving up in trophies to play where your TH9-TH10 counterparts exist without artificially dropping trophies.

Which brings us back to the "move up in trophies" response that you discredit so vehemently. Remember when I mentioned that TH9's and TH10's rarely benefit from zapping? That is why moving up in trophies works. Heck, zapping encourages you to move up in trophies. If you WANT to hang out where zapping is effective you should be zapped and often. You are choosing to sandbag so you can pick on the easy targets. I'm not saying that is a bad thing. I do it too and I should be zapped for it. I could do the "honorable" thing and move up in trophies but I choose not to for the same reason you do. Because when I log off I would rather loose 1000 DE to a zapper, or even 3000 DE to three zappers than loose 300k gold, 300k elixir and 3000 DE to the first attack that comes along. Getting zapped and snipped is VERY beneficial.

There are of course a few TH9s and TH10s who do not understand basic math and zap aggressively like they learned to do at TH7. They are their own worst enemy. Wasting their own time and resources, thus slowing their own progression. As Ron White so eloquently put it, "You can't fix stupid." Altering game play to compensate for a very small % of players who are of below average gaming ability is just bad policy at face value. They are already punishing themselves even if they don't realize it. They are certainly not a good or justifiable reason to compromise the health of the game.

In sort, if SC made it possible for you to get all the loot you wanted with no risk of loss they would call the game Hay Day. In a game like CoC nobody should be safe beyond their shield. Ever. Zapping is the only thing that makes danger at every level possible. It is good for the health of the game BECAUSE you don't like it. Not sure if you read it all or not ChicagoSpartan, but it is everything you don't want to hear or acknowledge.

Just saying what can likely happen. :straightface:

Much of the rage (quit) in-game could be prevented by possibly adding something to it to give players a prospective on things, because it's very easy to look at the negatives, and totally neglect to even wonder about any positives. I can tell people just how much SC (semi-secretly) helped players out by changing small, but very significant, stats around. However I have no hope of letting the entire playerbase know just how much effectively unseen work SC put into things.

Or ratio of how much loot is lost, compared to what they have currently, and how if it wasn't for storage loot caps, players would lose much more when fully loaded storages, and then they'd really cry (and break thier Iphone :rolleyes:).

Zapping usually farms 800 or so DE units at best. With a single baloonion attack I can get up to 2000 DE, while getting 1000+ being pretty common. Most people complaining about zapping do so because they don't put their brains to good use and/or keep breaking the shields that they get in order to revenge zap. Complain about it to karma then, not to SC.

Point for point, there have been occasions where people that raid me spend more on Elixir to get my Dark Elixir that I do just zapping thier Dark Elixir store with lightening on a revenge attack. And who wouldn't want to use the option of paying x amount of Elixir, especially when you have more than you can spend, to make the overpowered attacker's reward reduced by about half? Tell me that wouldn't be something people would not do, if they think they could. :p

I'll keep zapping, and trolling, higher level Town Hall people in revenge attacks, because they made my day just as happy and cheerful :rolleyes:, until Supercell fixes the incentive to mostly attack (strach that, grind/farm) mostly easy to wipe out bases.

Both strategies are used by two groups of people: nearly full upgraded ths or about-to-upgrade hero/de troop. Plus, using lightning spells doesn't take all of the DE available for looting AND if you knew you could farm nearly the double with a strong attack, wouldn't you? Exactly.

Complaining about lightning attacks is a brainless idea because if the player knew how to deal with it, in one or two farms he would get the same amount lost if not more.

Exactly what...? What's your point? You are telling me nothing new. If anything, you don't seem to know that you can zap and farm at the same time :smirk: Like I use spells in any regular fashion in my farming raids, so why let an overflow of Elixir and idle Spell Factory go to waste?

Or you are busy and can't get yo your village for awhile, so prep a few lightening spells and check your revenge list whe you get back. Farming base or not, I have had all but one person become impossible to touch with a revenge attack... One... out of months and countless uses of revenge. So it's an option for me to zap and farm.

So why so serious? You seem to be the one complaining about the complaints. :smirk:

But it really is that simple. The Lightning spell causes damage and damage to storages gives resources. It's a pretty clearly defined mechanic that has been in game since the introduction of the lightning spell. Yeah someone dropping lightning on your DE is annoying. But that's the point, it's supposed to be. I'd guess that 90% or more of players complaining don't like the fact that they can't defend this tactic while cherry picking on premmies and lesser bases who can't defend against them. They can't have it both ways. So many of these threads complain about this tactic as if it cowardly, cheap or without honor. The entire principal of this game is to steal loot from others. How it's done is of little importance. There is no right or wrong way to play this game.

For those who think i'm complaining or crying about people zapping me, just fyi, i'm not complaining or crying lol
yes, it is true, you can easily "get over it" and revenge, etc and the game moves on. but this was an idea that i genuinely think will enhance the game.

This adds a new element into the game, which is something I think we'll find interesting. At the core of it all, you could be unphased but for those of you saying its no big deal, move on to a higher league etc etc.. just imagine how awesome you would feel knowing you spend a little bit of your resources to completely negate someones cheap zapping.
People already feel great when you defend well and make a higher townhall attack look like a completely beginner. Those replays are almost immediately shared within clans.

I apologize if this idea has come up already and for those of you sick of people complaining about this element of the game, you don't have to read this thread again. just move on to the next thread lol. otherwise, give a valid reason why this is a bad idea.

The entire principal of this game is not to just steal loot. It's a manner of attacking/defending. You attack bases for their loot, while they defend their loot. You use loot to enhance your attack and you use loot to enhance your defense.

If we are talking about "principals of this game" then there should be a way to defend the attack and attack a defend right? This is why they have a revenge button. so by this principal, should there not be a way to defend an attack of lightning zaps?

Think of zapping like the war on terror. Is sending a cruise missile 600 miles to blow up a tent with 2 dudes, a camel and a couple AK's inside it fair? Maybe not. But it is very effective and EXTREMELY expensive. Just like zapping it is self punitive already. Why nerf the already useless lightning spell?

I hope they never remove DE zapping because I enjoy reading threads where people are crying about it :cool:

These threads being created all the time is one of the biggest sources of proof that zapping is working as intended. If SC saw a drop in the number of these they may try to rebalance it. So in an almost literal way . . . these tears are the blue stuff in side the lightning spell jars. Ahhh the glorious irony!!!

The problem I have with this thread and others like it is suggesting that a single spell be the focus of a defense. Nobody is on here calling for a shield or defense for rage, jump, freeze or heal. Allowing a lightning rod or a shield to nerf lightning is the start of a slope calling for a defense to each spell. Then when those defenses are in, what's the point of having spells?

FYI: I'm not complaining. This is an idea that I had and if someone has a legit argument against it, then I am more than willing to hear them out. For you kids that have nothin to say but the fact that this is just a dumb complaint, then I suggest you go back to school and learn how to read and also defend your own case against it. Of course nobody is calling here for a shield or defense for rage, jump, freeze, or heals lol.. those are all spells that enhance an attack. If those spells were used for a way to loot like lightning spells do, I'm sure people would be "crying" and "complaining". going back to what I said about defending an attack and attacking a defense.. Your own base is full of defense that are designed to defend an army with spells. BUT, a lightning spell you can not defend against. That is my point.

Supercell doesn't have to do this idea at all, nor do they have to consider it. Just thought it would be an interesting element to the game if there really was a way defend any type of attack.

Last I checked 5 max lightning spells cannot destroy a DE tank. So a lighting strike is a defended attack. Or am I missing something here? When on the rare occasion I recieve a lightning strike I interpret that as the attacker waving the white flag. He can't take my base. End of discussion really. You're asking to be impenetrable, and that's not going to happen.

It's because I am quite actually complaining about the complaints haha. You see, the whole idea, the whole point is thoroughly stupid. It's like noobs complaining about how other players are taking their resources away or why their surviving troops used in an attack don't return to their camps. I mean, damn, people.

I'm more into the idea of being able to defend any type of attack that's out there. Whether it's a successful defend or not, as long as there's a way to defend against it.

I am ok with a trap that would partially counter spells. Reduce their effectiveness by one level and the trap lasts 20 seconds or something. But ANYTHING specifically designed to reduce the effectiveness of only one troop/spell . . . bad game design for skirmish style game like CoC. On a very basic level its just bad.

Things SC specifically designed to reduce effectiveness of only one troop/spell
1. healer. reduced effectiveness of air traps and made them completely ineffective SPECIFICALLY for healer
2. hogs. nerfed(although they were way too dominant so they had to be nerfed but nonetheless SPECIFIC)
3. giant bombs. increased damage to SPECIFICALLY hogs

There's 3 elements in the game that were changed to reduce/increase effectiveness in game.

this is just my counterargument to what you said.
i don't think you can call it bad game design for skirmish style game.
As you play the game, tweaks must be made to one troop/spell because the game evolves.

However though! regarding lightning, i see no immediate need whatsoever to change it to enhance the game. It was merely an idea, and honestly, I would not mind if a mod deleted this thread

You kinda latched onto the wrong idea. The game mechanics are simple, which I kind of knew already. Dealing with this issue that seems to violate the normal flow of things by ignoring (obvious) defences is the not so simple part. :smirk:

Well, I must be doing something (jokingly) right. :rolleyes: More than a few times I have high level raiders use spells and use up all they have just before getting what they wanted anyway. Zapping back is cheaper than the cost and prep time of thier assult.

So do I get a cookie or a gold star sticker for making the attacker actually work for it? :rolleyes:

I wouldn't go so far and read SC's mind and say 'as intended'. I'd be willing to bet, based on the mitigations they had to put in, that it was exactly intended, and had to patch up that rough spot.

just to add to this list of specific buffs/nerfs

supercell did buff the HP of the dark elixir tank well over a year ago. So a "fix" to rampant lightning strikes was already implimented.

Things SC specifically designed to reduce effectiveness of only one troop/spell
1. healer. reduced effectiveness of air traps and made them completely ineffective SPECIFICALLY for healer
You partially got me on this one. Healers were completely useless though. They did this to increase the power of something so that it was relevant again. Not reduce it.

2. hogs. nerfed(although they were way too dominant so they had to be nerfed but nonetheless SPECIFIC)
Still does damage to everything. Balancing an existing dynamic.

3. giant bombs. increased damage to SPECIFICALLY hogs

There's 3 elements in the game that were changed to reduce/increase effectiveness in game. They already increased the HP of DE storage specifically as a way to mitigate zapping, this balancing an existing dynamic.

this is just my counterargument to what you said.
i don't think you can call it bad game design for skirmish style game.
As you play the game, tweaks must be made to one troop/spell because the game evolves.
Tweeks in the game are one thing, but adding an entire new structure or dynamic specifically to target one game element that is not a problem . . . that is bad game design.

However though! regarding lightning, i see no immediate need whatsoever to change it to enhance the game. It was merely an idea, and honestly, I would not mind if a mod deleted this thread

stop this posting about zapping, its every damn day and its pathetic, it shows just how bad you are as a player if zapping is a problem for you, you obviously never raid if losing 800 dark is a massive loss to you, i lose 3k on average when i lose a raid, and that doesn't even register as i can usually make it back pretty quick.

But unfortunately I've complained about normal raids as well, since that's another issue right there. :rolleyes: (not so much being raided, but the bad gameplay experience with it).

This idea needs to be ruled out. This is getting ridiculous and it's simply an attack strategy to get loot. This only annoys people and it's filling up the forums. Just zap others it's fun and you get loot. I've only done it twice.

funny thing is, if it was just one thread and everyone who wanted it commented on that instead of starting a new thread and then getting all the rest of us who don't care, supercell might take it seriously

Anti-zappers always claim the above statement to make themselves feel better. Zapping isn't a proof if a player is good attacker or not. Get over it and man up a little okay?

Yes they can make it BUT Lightning isn't overpowered like Hogs (before the big bomb update). Just because someone don't want to get looted SC will update that spell?

It is like the same as everyone wants with the de zapping, get over it, because it is rediculous. Losing resources is part of the game, the only thing you have to do when you are zapped, is get revenge or just attack and steal the double of what you lost. If you lose dark elixir it will be around 600 probably, if you find a full storage you can get 3000, that is 5 times as much, so don't worry, there is an option to get it back.

Well what do you know? After a few weeks of being in TH7, I finally got zapped! There, happy now?

I didn't care about it. Actually, I WAS waiting to get zapped by a random guy but had never experienced one ... until a person that I just TH-Sniped goes in for revenge just to TH-Snipe me as well. Well, it wasn't just a simple TH-Snipe that he did, he also deployed a few of his Archers on a few un-defended resource buildings to get extra loot rather than 1K Gold/Elixir. After a few seconds, there goes the zapping part: He drops his single Lightning Spell on my DE Storage and only steals about 206 DE --- of course, he only had one LS. XD

By the time I see him zapping my Storage, I never felt a shred of anger. Instead, I laughed excitingly as that was the very first time I got zapped. Nah, even though I get zapped lots of times, I won't care about a single thing. My Barb King's level 2. Besides, my DE Drill and War Loot are the only ways that I could get DE easily.

Over the past few raids I've encountered, majority of them was a simple TH-Sniper even though some have Lightning Spells on their composition but they continued on with the snipe instead of zapping my DE. :saywhat:

OH!! :eek: DE Drills! War Loot Bonuses! Excellent! Those are the best ways to earn Dark Elixir faster! :D

...just get over it...

B-b-but I enjoy it when people zap me...


Though OP, zapping is a part of the game, deal or quit.

Yes, you are right, it does not destroy a DE tank. I'm not even concerned that there are people that take my loot with lightning spells. Thus proving that I am not complaining that people do this. I'm more into the idea of being able to defend any type of attack that's out there. Whether it's a successful defend or not, as long as there's a way to defend against it.

For the sake of argument, let's define defending an attack as thwarting what they are trying to do to your village.

Spells are meant to give you advantage. Why will you defend against it? It can't even 3 star your base. Lightning is not anything which is overpowered so no NEED to defend against it.

You know what elsr no one likes? Having to deal with 5 of these clone ideas in the front page. Sinking GOOD ideas.

Let's just say most zappers are th7's and th8's. I have seen so many complaints about those th's not being able to defend against dragon raids but it is part of the game....so. Then those th's think zapping is fair because it is part of the game. Whether you call it unfair or unbalanced it still resulted in the same conclusion. Zapping is impossible to stop and dragon raid(depending on the attacker) is impossible to stop. I am a th9 with heroes almost lvl 30 so basically I don't care much about losing a few thousand de a day due to zappers but when they try to make a viable argument I can just their own words against them. If supercell can somewhat nerf dragon raids they can nerf lightning spells. RIP Hogs. Happy Clashin' 🌸

Hey guess what! I don't care if I get zapped or not! I am going to raid again later so I will just earn it back. I zap they zap me. I raid normally for de. I get zapped some more. Few raid me for real for my de. Guess what! It doesn't matter. If you raid enough you will earn it back very easily. Now quit begging for them to stop zapping and just deal with it already.

I enjoy getting zapped because it does not bother me.
