Some ideas:
Challenges that come with gold rewards:
Raid 5 people in 10 minutes and gain 15 stars Reward - 200k gold. Once a day
Raid 10 people using only dragons and gain at least 10 stars. Reward - 250k gold...
Look, i'm making this up off the top of my head but you get the idea. Is single player challenges BUT they require you to play the multiplayer game unlike the single campaign missions
Also, how about some single player missions designed by us?! You get to design a new mission every week and are given a set number of walls / defences etc. You load this base with YOUR own resources and then release it into the population for people to play. Now, an attacker must pay 10k gold to fight, if an attacker fights and 3 star wins, they get all your resource (that you sacrificed) but it is automatically replenished for the next guy and you only need to load it with resource once. Now, what do you get?? Well, even if they win or lose, you get the cost of their army as Elixir - so if their army cost 80k elixir, that is what you get as reward. You also get the 10k gold that they paid to fight you.
Why bother with this?? I appreciate its close to the multiplayer game but the difference is that, well, its a bit different and given the number of players who are getting quite strong with limited things to do, this offers a new aspect of the game to keep them entertained. It is also an extra stream of income which stops people relying on raiding for their gold / elixir. As you progress, the upgrades are so expensive that playing the game becomes a bit of a chore. I am already playing less because I know it takes days to save up for one upgrade so I just play a few fights, get a shield, wait for it to run out and play a bit more...gone are the days when i'd grind all day to get loot because its no fun when the average fight is 50k...
anyway...there you go
