Right now I'm town hall seven and most of my walls are level 6. Should i upgrade them all to level 7 before i upgrade to th 8? I also don't a have a barbarian king and i am not sure if i should gem for it because its difficult to get 10,000 dark elixir. I am also probably going max out most of the defenses before i upgrade the town hall. Is this a good idea? Finally, i have enough for upgrading my dark barracks to level 2, are the hogriders worth it???
you definitely want to max out your mortars and wiz towers, and start maxing ur cannons and archer towers. since the upgrade to town hall 8 takes 8 days, you can finish upgrading some cannons and archer towers during the upgrade(depending on how many builders you have) and can probably also get a few walls to level 7. also, i upgraded my dark barracks to level 2 at town hall 7(i just started my upgrade to town hall 8 a few days ago) and ive never used hog riders(although i do use minions). so upgrading the dark barracks is up to you. as for the barb king, i would just raise trophies and look for bases with easy dark elixir. and dont be afraid to use a few lightning spells if you have to.
I am not upgrading to th 8 until everything, except BK and hogriders which will stay lvl 1, is maxed but tbh it's up to you, just my opinion that maxing bases is best
I would say get 2 maxed barracks and all defense maxed(except air defense, get that to level 4). When upgrading your town hall, upgrade teslas. Max out all troops except minions and dragons. When the town hall is upgrading upgrade dragons. There's no need to get all level 7 walls, just all T-junctions and intersections. Golden rule for upgrading past TH7:
Upgrade your TH when either of these two occurs
A. all your walls are max level and you have trouble keeping your gold storage from capping.
B. workers are idling because there aren't enough projects left.
Maxed everything its the best spot to be for resources (except for maybe DE just try to get barb king lvl one if u can)
Ive been TH8 for about a month. I maxed ALL def turrets, ALL Walls, and most of my pumps/mines. I did leave some lab stuff since Ive heard so many people swim in excess Elix after they are in TH8 a while.. so I thought I would be alright to do elix/lab upgrades while I get some walls done.Quote:

Hog riders...meh. I used them a bunch when I first unlocked them, but its hard to guage them when all your other troops are lvl 4-5, and they are lvl 1.
They seem to have a clean up role in my army (when I use them..) good health and dps, but dumber then the Barbs at times.. if you get them use them for a week and see how they are, but I think it will help to level them a bit, so you can compare them to the full strength troops you use now.
BK, I would recommend you not gem him, he can be acquired through regular raiding, in the right Trophy Range. and is great for cleanup, but against mass barb/arch he gets pwned easily.

I came nowhere near maxing TH7 and got TH8 about a month after starting to play, so I was quite premature. I have found that, while many on the forums say that maxing everything is the best idea, if you keep strong offensive capabilities and attack frequently loot at TH8 is amazing. I am able to farm 3-3.5 Mil in about 5 hours not paying complete attention to the game at all times. That being said, TH9 armies will plow through your base frequently, especially during the early stages of the hall; however, my nearly maxed base is able to make it so that TH9's lose resources attacking me nearly every time. Overall, I think lvl 5 troops outweigh any of the harm done by not maxing all of your walls, barracks, and collectors.
Im currently town hall 8 and i got too impaitnent to wait for level 5 archers i just went for it.. Oh how i regret it! Definately max out all your defences , walls troops collectors barracks camps the lot! So much to do in 8 not to mention all last level upgrades! Be worth it in the end, dont do what i did youll be farming for like forever lol
This is advice you want to ignore, there is alot of bad advice out there. I see so many premature TH8's with lv5 walls and lv2-3 defenses. Without a doubt you want to max out all offenses, defenses and definitely WALLS TO LV8. You want to go into TH8 strong rather than always playing catch up like so many others. Don't let trophies cloud your vision, they aren't important until highest levels. My theory on trophies is thats its pointless to push trophies when you can't defend them because your defenses are weak.Quote:
