I honestly believe that the best attack for th8 is high leveled hog riders. Obviously if you can get them to level 4, do it but even level 3 will 3 star the right max th8. What you need to look for with hogs is a base with little to no spaces inside the walls, because the main defense against hog riders are traps (giant bombs, spring traps, skeleton traps). i use 3 healing spells, 28 hogs, 20 archers to kill the clan castle troops, and 10 wizards to clean up the outside buildings once the hogs have destroyed the defenses. Another solid th8 strategy is gowipe. i like to think that if you have high level dragons, hogs, and pekkas at th8 you will be very good in war. It all depends on the base you are attacking. If the base is compartmentalized, but with not many spaces inside the walls, hog riders. if the base is mainly one group of buildings surrounded by walls, or there is a path through the walls that you can get through the base without having to break through walls, use gowipe. And finally, if the base has bad air defense and air sweeper placement, use dragons. Unless someone can make the perfect base to defend against all three, this "trio" should make you a th8 war machine.

Dragons aren't a 3 Star strategy for TH8 with lvl 6 AD. At most, it's a 2 star strategy.
You will need lvl 4 Hogs or LvL 3 Pekkas and LvL 2 Golems if you want to consistently 3 star good TH8 bases.
