Heroes and spell factory should be available for use when upgrading.Heroes should be available for use during clan wars and spell factory should be able to make spells even while upgrading.
High level heros take too much time to upgrade during which they are completely useless.
I definitely want this!

Where as heroes have 80 levels all together, all of them quite lengthy. Heroes being usable in wars is a must-have.

Despite what some believe its MORE IMPORTANT you keep players playing, not have them opt out of clan wars or take a week long vacation JUST BECAUSE their heros/spells are upgrading. That's how important they are to balanced gameplay. They are not spending on other areas of interest in the game if they're not playing. And the mere fact we are habit forming creatures some of those people never come back from that vacation... I see it all the time. So in the end the losses/gains wouldn't be as effected as its made out to be. People would still gem the build time just for the sake of getting to that next level faster, and now more would be actively playing a more balanced/fun game... Think on this a minute...
Its interesting that the clan castle gets the special treatment and properly works while upgrading because supercell realizes it is also a unique structure that adds so much power to the offense/defense play.
If their was two spell factories I could see a point in it not working while upgrading, you simply have to wait longer to train your one-five spells while one of the factories is upgrading. But alas it is a unique structure.
If the heros were more of a buffer to your attacking army rather than the practical powerhouses they are then again I could understand going without while they upgrade. But as it stands now there isnt any integrity in allowing one thing but not a very similar other while upgrading.
