Clan Castle Troop Upgrade

I've been in one of the higher ranked clans recently and have noted that they have a minimum archer level donation requirement (all seems reasonable to me as low level troops in a higher level players cc can be a bit of a liability in defence or a bit disappointing in attack). I've seen some high level trophy wise players refused and I've seen people kicked for sharing lower level troops and I think I have a solution that could bring the community closer together.

So how about when troops are donated, the person who receives them can pay some elixir to upgrade them? I have no specific costs in mind but say 10 or 20 elixir per low level troop and an incremental increase for higher level troops.

I think this would give lower level players a chance at getting into some of the better clans and increase teamplayer appreciation. The last clan I was in (my own) had so many arguments and complaints that low level troops are a liability that when minimum requirements were introduced the clan almost died. If Supercell could have a look at this and implement it in some future update I think it would be great for the Clash of Clans player community and you never know, it might even increase sales by a small margin due to the extra elixir used.

Also I notice that someone voted no (I won't mention names as you didn't leave any comment) and am wondering if you would give a reason as to why? Is it something against the idea itself or is there something I'm missing on Supercell's T&C's?

I like this idea, but I think the cost to upgrade the troops should be the difference between the cost of the troop donated and the cost of whatever troop level you are upgrading to.

I also imagine that you'd only be able to upgrade troops to the current level of your troops.

To keep it simple, I think there would be a single button titled "Upgrade Troops" that would show when you inspect the CC. When pressed it'd bring up a confirmation screen with the cost to upgrade everything in the castle.

I don't have a problem with the way it is now but I would definitely pay an upgrade charge if it was an option.

It's not a bad idea. But I like the idea of a level/unit filter on what people can and can't donate a little better. It would prevent players without level 5 archers in top tier clans and such from donating, which in turn would press upon them the urgency to get their S*** together.

Dahimi I appreciate your well thought out response. I agree that the CC owner should only be able to upgrade to their own level of troop, as for the cost I hadn't really thought about it that much but again the idea seems feasible. Thanks for adding some more depth to the idea.

Thanks for the response. I think that the filter is also a viable idea but I like to champion the newer player base too. I get a warm feeling accepting some new lowbie in and helping to nurture them into a fighting force. I think this way is a little more player friendly :)

The idea here is to promote community.

If you've got a clan with people at all sorts of different stages of development, the people at earlier stages can still contribute without your castle being stuffed with low level troops that aren't nearly as useful to you as the high level ones you currently possess.

Why would it be better to prevent people from donating over adding a mechanic to simply make the troops more useful to you?

Why should troop donations be the driving force to compel people to upgrade? If you want a clan with only high level peeps, simply make that a clan requirement. Plenty of clans already do that.

Also consider that a filter and this idea are not mutually exclusive. This idea would be much easier for Supercell to implement though.
