"quarantine" option to limit spying

hi all,
our clan keeps getting hit by "spies", who join the clan before wars and capture our clan layouts. Some might accept it as a part of the game, however for us this is causing irritation. Could you please consider adding a "quarantine" option for new clan members, where new members can't see the intricate details of the host clan members until the current war is over?An appropriate elevator music during their attempts to capture village layouts would be greeted with extra appreciation.

You don't need to do that, our leader always closes the clan before we start war. Then when we don't war we open the clan up again.

so much overkill for something you can stop yourself

Some clans it's not as easy as that. You need to try and get new members while you can. Even if that means taking risks.

No, SuperCell shouldnt change things that concern the clan and easily can be fixed by the clan.
You need to figure out what you can do against spying instead of running to forum to ask if SuperCell want to fix your problem

Block view of war base traps and CC troops via checking how 'old' thier New status is when hopping into the clan, since the system has to keep track of how long that status has to be around anyway. Can set the block to be as long as whatever time seems necessary to block people's attempts, either 6, or 12, or even 24 hours, with it been overridden by promoting, since most friendly hoppers need a rank reinstatement anyway.

The only thing I'd want "quarantined" is new members jumping in and out of the clan while it is set to 'Anyone can join', since they pop in, and do whatever without care, and leaves before we can even verbally smack them upside the head for being a jerk. We want new members to walk in, but not to walk in, raid our frig, drop off their junk, and walk out like they belonged there. Not even gas station convenience stores are treated like that regularly! Before some noob screws up someone's troop request, at least let us have time to say "Hi, what's up?"

Spying is a fun part of the game....

If it were purposefully programed in. :rolleyes:

People have to use other features to pull it off, and since it isn't explained in the game that it is doable, people will complain about it even being done. You don't usually put in a purposeful game feature without it saying something about the feature itself. :facepalm: Who programs that way? Dwarf Fort or Rogue-like games are games that are practically meant to be played starting off not knowing a thing, not a top income making ages 13 and up game app.

I did not know that viewing traps and cc troops can be blocked. Thanks for the hint, I will try that. Also, regarding the "nasty jumpers", we have not had any exposure to those yet but sounds pretty irritating.

You get 12 hours cool down to rejoin a clan or back to your clan. Or you lose your attacks if you leave during war time.

It wouldn't be hard to code. Basicly when someone new comes in, for <X> amount of hours (unless promoted or something), they are treated as 'the other side' for both halves of the war map. They would see the usual from the 'enemy clan' side, but also get the same lack of info from 'Thier' clan side of the map as well.

It is so far the only idea I've ran into that solves things, and minimally interferes with other people's activities.

Would actually like to bundle that with the rest of the 'new' member limits, since I feel people get too much too fast when they join. There is no way to interview them, or check things before they get full member-level access to everything; which is how those annoying hopper operate. But I haven't came up with a good way of doing that without unduely limiting things, and making people jump through more hoops.

I like how everyone's response to spying runs contrary to a game designed to run on an inherently social platform.

And you can't meet new members for fear that they are only there to help beat you in war.

When your clan starts wars as soon as the previous one ends... you wind up with a clan that must remain closed 24/7/365.

I can't believe this comes up as much as it does. Is this really such a hard thing to manage? I just can't see this being such an issue.

I think I've said a few things this will keep up until fixed and/or a real spying system is put in, and if made into a feature, people know about it and know it is intended. It is a perceived threat, regardless of how effective it is, and a newbie's reaction will be to get annoyed, and then get frustrated about the limited ways to manage it, and a percentage of them come here to complain. This will keep up until CoC stops getting newbies (doubt it anytime soon), or addressed properly.

Look back far enough, and you'll see one of my early posts acting about the same as these guys. I've since known better, but I've not forgotten what it was like, and haven't forgotten my point of view at that time. I can't say I know how all, or even most, newbies think, but I do have a good idea of what is going on.

i suppose my clan just doesn't war enough. Only one a week. We have never never run into a spy a single time. From what I see, it just doesn't seem like it could be all that productive. But I guess some may have gotten good at it. My personal opinion though is that each clan is a nation, and a nations security is its own responsibility. Not Supercell's nor anyone else's. So if supercell were to "fix" this issue I'd likely not care. And if they continue to do nothing, I'd still not care. I learned Treachery is part of war from from a very young age. So I don't see this as an issue. But good luck to you fighting for a even playing field. I'll just stay out of these threads.

Being TH10, with I assume many others in your clan being TH10, likely has something to do with it. By then (one would hope) players would know how to spot trap locations, and not feel it worth it to peek, since they will be prepared for most 'surprises' that would likely come up. At lower Town Hall levels, that experience just isn't there; and it just takes one person to get the idea that they could join the enemy clan so they can steal a look at what few secrets there are to be had before it catches on and spreads.

Was no different than when I was playing team based first person shooters via dial-up. You'd have someone occasionally hop to the other team, do some immature thing to gain some silly advantage, (and everyone saw the team switch messages) and then people complained and the host kicked there butt out of the game, sometimes repeatedly, until they banned them via thier game ID# (if there was one for the game). Jumping to different teams was still common, since sometimes it was needed to balance things out and make things fun, or the other team just annoying, or wanted to see how things were like on the other side (some games had asymmetrical maps or team design, like in an alien vs human setting for example, or for those that know Counter Strike)

Team Fortress Classic (aka, last incarnation of TF before TF2), you actually HAVE A SPY class, and yet twits would team hop every now and then to see stuff. Note, this was a Half Life modification, so it wasn't a fully developed game in of itself. Anyone could mess with stuff on it and deviate from standards (and that was actually the fun part of those mods).

Anyway back on topic, I'm surprised that after less than a handful of incidents with war twice a week, and after forgetting to close the clan a few times, I haven't seen any spying attempts in a long time while keeping it invite only. But many of us are getting close to, or at TH9, so maybe we are leaving the 'spying noob' zone, closer to where you are at now.

For your clan, it isn't easy. For all the other ones, it's easy. Just close your clan by setting it to "Invite Only" or "Closed" so that you don't get spied on.

You have a lot of time to do that before starting Wars.

It's so simple to CLOSE your clan during Clan Wars. Just set it to "Invite Only" or "Closed!" Try doing that when Prep Day starts and you'll see how easy it is to do Wars. If you need members, don't start Wars until you have enough members. That way, you won't experience getting spied on anymore.
