To how I did it. I looned and sniped to around 3600, then periodically made Gowipe, gowiped and sniped the rest of the way. I found 2 offers of 37 cups for my last jump over. One th9 which luckily found first, and 3*. Second was a snipe which pushed me over the edge.
Took me 9 days, but I have been online every day for around 10-12 hours a day. Most of the time continuously skipping for a snipe in between raids, and a raid when troops are ready. I would not recommend trying this unless you also have a lot of free time over a short period ( or long if you have nothing to do ever :p ).
After around 3700, there was an abundance of +1 - +5 raids, and hardly anything 12+. If I so happened to find anything 12+, quick scout would tell me whether I could try it or not. Don't get me wrong, I had some harsh fails... -27 here -36 there. Not many but enough. Some bad times haha!
but I didn't give up. If I dropped, I would play it safe. Snipe back to where I was, or hit bases for just a few cups which were easier. I would only risk going for higher cup offers once I reached my previous record. Roll the dice a bit, you may surprise yourself, especially when someone is offering 42 cups!
