Legendary building, ivory tower
Since new heroes are not being seriously concidered atm, on account of 2 being currently plenty, i have switched gears and pondered up a NEW idea. At least, as far as my research went.
At the beginning of the game, you get 5 free wizards from the ivory tower to wipe out the first goblin map. Then it never comes up again. I say there is plenty of material here for the construction of a hero structure idea.
The simple concept is at th8, you gain access to the ivory tower. It would be all ivory at level 1 of course. On top is an old, gray wizard. It would function like a normal wiz tower, but with cooler zap animation and a +2 range.
It's damage would be around 15 at first, barely better than a slighly upgraded wiz tower. I believe it should cap around 75 damage, about half more than a normal wiz tower, with the same firerate, 1.25s. That means it should alternate 1 and 2 damage per level.
It would offer a spell as a hero ability. It would summon wizards, starting with 3, then 4 at level 20 and 5 at 40. They would be summonable like any spell, allowing you to reinforce troops on the battlefield, where otherwise you may have to take chances with giant bombs blowing up all the ranged units at once.
Starting at level 5, the spell will simply summon wizards. At level 10, it upgrades to an attack capable spell by engulfing the wizards in flame causing 100 damage on the space they land on and 50 to the surrounding spaces. At level 30 it upgrades to a larger radius by .5 spaces in both direct and splash.
Keeping in line with it's defensive role, it should only be able to cast once every 6 hours. The Tower should remain active while the spell is cooking.
For limiting reasons, the spell should cap at 10 for th8, 20 for th9, 40 for th10.
One last thing of note. This could make the intro WAY more badass than just 5 wizards showing up to help. Imagine if when you started the game, the wizards literally exploded onto the scene with a display of late game potential. Wiz are a halfway decent motivating tool. But this is fuel for the fire all they way to th10.
Feels free to bash/praise and please offer suggestions if it seems too OP or needs modification. I just think it is a solid idea with reasonable limits.
Here's a spin to this idea
Achieved at TH5 & Only available for use once per day. But not actually a hero ability. You can simply deploy 5 wizards from ivory tower close to like the beginning of the game.
It could be incorporated to the game as an update to the spell factory which could be a summon spell at the cost of 5 lv1 wizards and up graded separately to lv6. Or they could get their own special building to rally in and be upgraded that way. I think they should be separate from the level of your current wizards because they are not your wizards. "The Wizards from Ivory tower are here to help for good!"

K, i keep the VERY SMALL individual wiz bombs, which are spaced apart and not much damage by themselves. Nix the center fireball completely.
I feel i may not be representing the idea right. Very focused on defense is the main point, and the spell is equivalent to a hero ability.

Honestly, i stopped zapping after deciding it felt lame. So i didn't think of it.
