Trouble with th9 ring bases
I've become quite efficient with cb lavaloon/pentaloon/gohogs etc, but one kind of base that i've struggled to 3* every time are tried and true ring bases. my success rate on these bases are far worst than any other kind of fancy base these days. After watching replays, here's where things go wrong:
LAVALOON PROBLEMS
ring bases tend to have majority of air def at mid, far from point defenses. You can holo of course, but a holowi attack in my opinion is far less reliable than lava/goho style attacks. With air defenses so far from other towers, my loons take beatings and my rage locations dont help all my troops in a lavaloon attack. Rage deep in and my loons dont benefit, rage too far out and lavapups get no help.
Ring bases tend to have queen in the padding layer, so an exploding lavahound has no prayer at killing the queen with the new AI, and even if you CB the queen, it's unlikely that your CB attack takes out an air def in the core.
GOHO PROBLEMS
Ring bases are classic anti hog bases, numerous dbl bomb spots on the ring layer as well as inside. you can easily break the ring and have hogs flood the core, but i've had a few raids where i went straight at the core and floods of skeleton traps chased my hogs for the rest of the raid.
Even after you crush the core, the hogs run the ring and get sprung, leaving only a few hogs left and running out of time for 1 or 2* attack.
Most smarter rings wont let you CB the queen and trigger any big bombs either.
I've gotten to the point where bases like the general are 3* every time or any other base of similar build, but ring bases still get me at a shocking high rate of only 40% success. And yes, i'm speaking th9 vs th9 only.
I've not had great success with shattered attacks in the past, but is this one of those cases where i should be using shattered?
