Wizards + Archers is really good, because you can have like 12 archers and 3 wizards. The archers can tank (since the troops are stupid and all go for a single archer or two at once) while the wizards do massive splash damage. The main issue with this is that they are all vulnerable to lightning.

Drags are generally good because they aren't vulnerable to lightning, and have high dps. However, it is easy to counter a dragon by just placing archers around it in a circle, so its splash damage can be useless. Plus, it is extremely easy to lure as it is only a single unit.

In general, I prefer wizards or wizards/archers since at lower trophy levels during farming (1200-1400) it is more uncommon to have people use lightning on cc troops. When I trophy push, I prefer a dragon and some other troops though.

Actually I always have a dragon in the CC even for farming. at the 1200-1400 level I almost never lose my dragon. My CC is centralized and it cant be lured out. By the time tier one troops get close enough they are kind of helpless against the drag. Especially when they target the giants that I also have in the CC first. My current dragon has lasted 3+ days. No ♥♥ cause my donations are currently 1163 given to 0 received

For the people that say its easy to kill a dragon its cause they are encountering poorly placed CC's. I feel sorry for the people that donate dragons to people that don't know how to use them properly. As for archers being the best...they aren't so great when one lightning wipes them out.
