However, upgrading troops, spells, and army camps have a direct 'global' affect on your army. Meaning, upgrade the troop or spell once. *Bam*. Now every troops or spell you choose to create will be that level. Now with Defensive towers (gold consumption buildings), each has to be upgraded individually. So taking the upgrade cost, and the increased training cost for Troops and Spells, that use Elixer; And the Defense Towers and Walls, which use gold. Taking into account that, as stated earlier, defenses have to be upgraded individually. If we then compare Offense and Defense in their use of each resource. I'd say that it is fairly eaqul, even gold probably takes more.
Maybe it's just you with your elixer shortage crisis, but in my experience I haven't a problem getting elixer.
And your 'analysis' provided regarding how you came to your conclusion is slightly scewed. Perhaps the reason people you attempt to raid have little elixer compared to their gold (so you say) is because they have so much so often that they always spend it.
Have you considered that possibility? That before you view their base and see their low elixer, that they've allotted the majority of their elixer on an upgrade. Whilst they have more gold because they are saving it up.
That's just my view on it.
