Possible resolution to the annoying use of lightning spells on dark elixir storages.

I'm sure we all hate when we sign back on from clash of clans and notice that 2000 of our precious dark elixir is taken from a raid.. Purely of lightning spells. In fact that was all that was taken. Didn't bother dropping down troops or attempting to snipe our townhall, just trading 3-4 lightning spells for a good chunk of our hard earned dark elixir.

This constantly happens to those who have a half to a completely full storage of dark elixir, and we all know getting dark elixir isn't always a piece of cake. The larger the storage, the more lost and the more difficult to get back. After much thought, I have came up with a solution that can benefit the defence in more than one way.

A Lighning Rod..
Not just any lightning rod, but a Giant Lightning Rod. A defencive building that only attracts lightning spell strikes from a certain radius so it damages that instead of the structures around it. I'm thinking a th7 or a th8 introduced building. Upgrading it should increase health to match up with higher leveled lightning spells, lasting about 1.5 or 2 spells. The radius could be increased as well when upgraded.

The best part is the Giant Lightning Rod doesn't even need to be used for the storages only, but could be used to protect defences you don't want to be lightning spelled on like air defences or mortars. I believe this is a very flexible structure and is an excellent addition to the defensive line.

Please consider my suggestion, a lot of dark elixir is unfairly stolen each minute that passes by.

ANYTHING that nerfs only one specific troop/spell is a bad idea.
Honestly, zapping is better than a group of goblins coming and taking the whole storage.
Please use the search function as well. There are literally 1 nillion ideas on things with DE storage and lightning spell.

Nah

I know its annoying but its just the game. I think if we have "lightning rod" and "Giant lightning rod", lightning spells would be useless except for cc troops. I personally think that this should not be added.

I have a better suggestion

Dont let it annoy you, its a part of the game.
When a TH9 or TH10 player raids my TH7 village and take my DE with queen, I have no chance of defending my village and taking revenge with troops is most likely a suiceside mission.
However taking revenge with a few lightningspells on his DE tank "hurts" him.
And he will think twice becore raiding another lower TH player.
If someone use lightning in an attack you can take revenge, try to destroy his entire village and that player will think twice of using lightning on DE in an attack

nah they wouldn't ever introduce a defence that cancels out spells, that would mean you couldn't use the spells which would effect gameplay
just take ur lumps and go back outside and play

It isn't made to cancel out the lightning spell completely but to take a good amount of damage away from it (depending on its upgraded level) since a lot of people abuse the ability of lightning spells to take dark elixir.

Lightning spell revenge won't realy be as effective when you lost a significant amount and only could get up to a mere fraction of what you lost from the attacker.

The telsa idea kind of doesn't solve the issue when the telsa must be revealed. Telsas are only revealed when troops are around them.

Yes, there are different ways to get dark elixir from storages but those ways involve an army, and a chance to fail opposed to just 3-4 spells, literally trading elixir for dark elixir.

It doesn't matter. The lightning spell idea is normally requested about 7 times every day. that is over 2,000 threads within the past 10 months. If this were to continue, that would be 218,736 complaints about lightning in one man's life, and about 231,756 in one woman's lifetime. It is not a good solution for 2 reasons: It hurts more than it helps, and you cant have a solution if there was never a problem.

That someone feels like it an abuse of lightning doesnt mean it is abusing lightning.
Its a complete legit way to damage any building and with damaging you gain loot.
Its only a problem to those who take it personal, the people who put too much emotions in the game.
It is soo much simpler to accept that DE can be stolen with lightning, instead of trying to take away the gaming experience of so many players because some get all emotional over a virtual black liquid thats needed to train some virtual troops in a virtual game

They really need to change the lightning spell

The should make the lightning spell to triple damage to dark elixir storage, that way you don't have to spend SOOO long cooking lightning to zap people.

Colonnel awesome, I fail to see how it hurts more than it helps, maybe explaining yourself would help. And it is kind of an issue when dark elixir isn't easy to come by compared to the other resources.

Bockerijder, dark elixir isn't just used to make troops but also to upgrade them. And it takes ALOT of dark elixir to upgrade. Everyone who played this game a decent amount is aware of that. If it shouldn't matter so much then why bother making lightning spells just to take dark elixir? The fact that players go for that and leave without actualy playing the game and using a real strategy to push them ahead is what I call abuse.

How a lightning rod would help: Stop zappers

How it would hurt:
1: hurts TH7s and 8s who zap
2: Could hurt barch by placing rod between mortars. Need to get rid of the mortars to barch
3: Could hurt dragon raids. Place one in range of all your air defenses, and they are lightning proof.

And I fail to see how you think zapping isn't strategic... By boosting spell factory, you can make more DE by zapping than attempting to do a full on raid, and at the same time, each person you zap has less taken than from a full on raid. When putting it like that, zapping is a win-win. Im a TH8. I have 26k dark elixir. Better that a TH7 zaps me than a TH9 takes all my DE, gold, and elixir. It isn't abusing lightning either. Lightning was made to damage buildings.

I know its used to upgrade troops too. Doesnt change anything of what I said, what I would like to add.
I like to expose my TH for victims willing to destroy it, so that I have a link back to take revenge, and you can imagine how I take revenge.....
I like to ZAP ZAP ZAP that DE tank.
Its their own fault, the shouldnt destroy my TH and burry my builders and villagers alive under the rubble.
They have feelings too you know XD
Am I abusing lightningspell? No I use a damn good strategy to get the DE I need from victims that run into a trap that they never suspected and they cant take revenge because they started.

The idea is not to stop it completely but taking a chunk of damage from it. At a lower level, the rod doesn't have to consume so much of the damage. Mortars have about half as much health as air defences, and those who use dragons a lot know that bunched up air defences are the best targets with heals and rages. One those are removed, dragons can go to town without any problems, hence the lightning spell strat. And tbh, I prefer my chances against the th9 when I was th8 and now that I'm th9. Recourse collection is nerfed the higher the th is and there's a chance the attack might fail when lower th could get a higher % of the loot.
