It really does not mine has sat there and not been used once air raids are still strong in war and it has made no impact
First of all, it isn't supposed to stop all air attacks. It's meant to affect strategy, and it does. I've seen a star or two missed, because of them.
Second of all, most people don't have them maxed out yet, so it's still too early for evaluation.
I have seen them singlehandedly end a th7 dragon attack.
They have also given me some trouble in laloon attacks.
Air attacks needed a slight nerf and this is the perfect implementation of that.
I love that they didn't nerf a troop, they just gave a slight and ever so subtle buff to air defense.
And if you don't think it needed it, then you're wrong.
After using it and seeing it in action, I really like the Air Sweeper.
And it's another great example of how good Supercell is at balancing offense and defense.
Its still new, so as others have said they arent all maxed out. They also arent in the best locations/facing properly.
The sweeper does 2 things imo. Slow down a direct attack, and manipulates what side your opponent attacks from.
A lot of people don't know how to use them. I see guys with them on outer cores pointing in. The air sweeper attack spreads as it goes out and is quite ranged. The best position is inside pointing out. You can also use it to your advantage in that people with air will be less inclined to attack the side with it pointing out so you can trap the other side heavier with air traps. Play around with it a bit before calling it useless...
Mine keeps making dragon attacks go into two black mines over and over again, seems to working for me. :smirk:
As a th7, I was getting 3 starred every single war by all dragon attacks. Since the air sweeper update (and proper placement) it's now split evenly between 2 and 3 stars. Considering th7s have almost no way to prevent being 3 starred by all dragons, the air sweeper has been a huge help.
Air sweeper is actually really good. It completely messed me up once when I was using balloonion.
Wow just wow.
It's really expensive though, just put mine to level 5 at 4.8 mill.
Thus far I haven't found them overly useful. At the same time, I do see there usefulness. Having more than one to cover more ground would be ideal. But you can see where they are pointing and attack in the opposite direction that they are facing.
the thing is, i dont like the looks of it. but i bought it already. :(
I have mostly had it upgrading since it came out, and I'm not sure if my positioning is best. I hope more base designs get posted showing clever sweeper positions
I use giant/healer almost exclusively and air sweepers have pretty much no effect. I don't even pay any attention to them.
Just because air sweeper doesn't totally end air attack doesn't mean it has no purpose.
If you are smart enough you will see the potential of this defense.
When it max, it push baloon far away thus leaving the lava alone for quite a long time for your defense to take it down.
You can also use it to manipulate enemy's attack so they attack from the side that you want.
Yes a good attacker can still crack your base even though you have max it and place it well, but the not so good attacker will end up fail not as easy as spamming dragon to your village just like before the sweeper exist.
There's also another potential which is a lot of people dissapointed and decide to not buy it, which means we can still dominate this people from air while they can't revenge back because of our well placed sweeper fail their attack.
I put it on the opposite side of the Archer Queen. I was attacked once with balloonion during the half-price special, but my queen was down. They avoided the airsweeper.
I am curious how it can affect dragon wars for lower townhalls like TH8.
Are skeleton traps placed directly in front of the Air Sweeper enough to pull the dragons, attacking from the back side?
What about a barb king placed in front of the Air Sweeper? Will the dragon AI go for the Barb King and be swept to the edges to circle the base? The barb king has quite a large roaming region, so it can be tricky.
My th7 2 starred a low th8 that I think would have been really close to 3 stars without the leaf blower (it was 80% but it slowed me down more than I thought it would).
My main account I have taken a couple different angles on golaloon attacks...but never been directly effected by it during an attack.
I bet you just put them in wrong way in your CW base. Placing them in a perfect spot in CW's base absolutely can mess up enemies' air attack. You just have to find the good spot.
I placed mine to shoot over the barb king - far as attacking go It hasnt bothered me. Minions seem to get up on it fast enough or if you use a rage on your balloons it doesnt have a chance. Its no more of a inconvenience than having to knock down a empty Clan Castle right next to the Town Hall.
Needs to be leveled up to lv3 and above to really start making a difference, until then it's a cute novelty that amounts to nothing more than an inconvenience to a skilled attacker.
Positioning is a whole other story as well. Don't use it to protect a weak air defense, protect your strongest one and also concentrate an archer tower or two so that their range extends towards the edge of the as range. Get a tesla to hit those troops somewhere along the path too and stack that damage to whatever flying troops your enemy happens to throw at you.
That's the key to winning defenses. stacking your point, splash, traps and air defenses to key sections of your base. You can't cover it all, but you can funnel troops to an area defensively and deal them devastating damage.
Don't give up, level up!
Are you kidding? For the first time ever--last war the enemy launched full L3 dragons on my TH8 base and got ZERO stars!! A properly positioned, heavily air-trapped L3 air sweeper complementing your L6 AD works like a charm, especially once the cc troops and skeleton traps are thrown into the mix.
It swept them all to the side...where they died!
