They r important. I started my skull grind before maxing my defenses. They really make a base look tough and is a pain for those heroes.
They matter in so many ways.
If you didnīt notice yet, the AI of the heroes is hugely flawed. Once they start beating a wall, they will not stop, until they break it. Even if the CC or a defense at their range is hitting them, they are still going to keep pounding the wall. The AQ takes an eternity to break through a LEGO.
Outside war, lots of people often choose the bases thhey are going to raid solely by the walls (I guess it is the most obvious visual aspect of a base). Besides, lots of people use barch, and barch just is not fond of upgraded walls.
I know for personal experience (as a rushed TH9) that walls makes a huge a difference, between just getting sniped (90% of the time) and earning a free shield and getting completely wiped out. I know have almost full set of skulls with a legos core, but I still have TH7/8 defenses (lvl 4 mortars and WT/lvl 8 AT and Lvl 9 cannons).
walls matter, upgrade them when you can.
TH8- Skulls are preferable but not required to move on to TH9
Th9 (My Current situation and preference)- Get all walls to level 10 before moving on to Th10.
My Th9 stance might sound a little excessive but it gives you time to level your heros also. As a Max Th9 I enjoy beating up Th10s with pink walls and heros lower level than mine.
Of course they matter, but when you consider that the total cost of all walls is over 2 billion, and all defense upgrades combined total around 500 million, they are extremely overpriced. Don't worry about walls until all your other defenses are max for your level. I believe that it's still beneficial, but at th9 I feel like lavas are not needed. I will be doing all legos then going to th10, and not worry about walls again til I'm completely max on defences.
Don't you think that your TH7/8 defenses might have had more to do with you getting "completely wiped out" than your walls? I'm a new TH9 with mostly grape walls (74 skulls), and the only time I've been 3 starred in recent memory outside of war was a very well executed hog raid, which, of course, ignored the walls.
I think defensive towers should be a priority for gold, but of course, any extra gold (and later elixer) should go into walls.
Very useful please... Stronger the wall the longer AQ shoot at it.
Against many cw war bases with L10 or 11 walls I'm having to take 2 jumps, that's really stretching it fine on the rage and freeze spells. If I attack walls that are lower level it's much easier for me cause my troops can just slice through them and I have more freeze to play with instead of jumps.
Walls matter, they just really kill a lot of players love for the game to farm up to hi level.
