how to attack this base for 3 stars

I would go for Dragons for this base with 3 Lightning spells & Balloons in CC. Take out the AD on the right with Spells & start your attack from the North West side [10 o clock] with dragons in a line parallel to the remaining ADs. Air Sweeper will not be a problem from that angle. Since only the core is strong, you should focus on getting your maximum number of Dragons to the core & it'll be an easy 3 star.

Don't worry about having only Lvl 2 Dragons & not Lvl 3. I've always used Dragons Lvl 2 against Th8s in war & scored & easy 3 star even maxed. I still have Lvl 2 Dragons at Th9 though since I don't use them anymore. :p

I think level 4 hogs would smoke this base. Yes, it is spread out, but he doesn't really have more than a couple defenses next to each other at any give spot, so your hogs will never really be drawing fire from tons of defenses at once. As long as you make sure to lure and kill all cc troops prior to sending in your swarm of hogs, you should be good - this is very important though, as lingering cc troops will pick off your hogs and ruin the attack. Bring all heal spells. Even though the base is spread out, it's still a TH8 and only has 3 giant bombs total and 4 spring traps...the options to derail your attack are limited :) Bring 30-32 hogs and the rest wiz/archers for killing the cc troops (and king too if you can).
