Checking which neighbours have actually done their derby tasks and neighbourhood chat

Hi,

As i am the leader for a neighbourhood which filled with my friends and some strangers. It is hard for me to keep up who has actually done their derby task. It would really be helpful if Supercell admin add a feature where leaders/co-leaders can check every member's completed task.

And second, as i'm playing clash of clans too. You have a feature where the leader or co leaders can send messages to all clan members at one go and everyone will be able to read it in the inbox. What you have in hayday now is just general chat within the members and it is hard for the leader to send a message to the neighbourhood members. If we have left a message, the chat will push it down and eventually cover it up.
Make something like in clash of clans will you?

These are my suggestions. I'm pretty sure other leaders of their neighbourhood would love these new features as well. Derby was a really good update. It brought back most of my friends to play this game all over again.

This has been suggested before but due to privacy of other players, this is not something that can be implemented.

LOGGED ON TO FORUM FOR THIS EXACT REQUEST! As NH Leader i am asked often to kick inactive members or those who will not actively participate in Derby tasks. We are a multi culture NH so players are on 24hrs a day. Currently there is no way to check who is active or not...making it very difficult to maintain an 'active NH' yet not kick someone unjustly. SC we need your help please.

As Melly already said above, SC has decided against having this feature implemented in the game due to privacy concerns. This doesn't mean all is lost if you want to track progress of all NH members. Have them screenshot their progress and submit it to you.

How about asking them? Do you have a co-leader? Consider having some type of "leader" for say a certain amount of hours a day or better yet have the "leader" who is online the most at certain times check with the players that are in their timezone. Would you kick the players out if they didn't complete a task? Just curious.

I'm the leader of our nh only because I started it, not because anyone needs leading thats for sure. I don't advocate checking up on anyone. If someone says they did X amount of tasks for X amount of points, fine. Thats what they did. It should be fun and no pressure.

No. Fun to play the game. If you ask people to report their tasks to the leader, and they don't want to, then it's not a cooperative neighborhood, and THAT'S the problem, not the derby. But I do not want someone looking over my shoulder. What would be next? They can look in my barn, and see that I have strawberry jam?

Just because you are asked to kick someone out does not mean you have to comply.

Personally, I don't see what harm will come from the leader of the group having the ability to see tasks individuals have completed for the derby in their own neighborhood. Some neighborhood's goal is to win and it's hard when you have individuals that are not completing their tasks. If those members are not wanting to work toward the same goal then it's up to the leader to be able to make a decision on what changes need to be made with facts not assumptions. We are able to see exactly which individual has helped out on others boats by helping fill their crates, I see no difference. I am completely aware SC does not feel the same way on this subject but, this is my opinion. I'm just not sure how this is an invasion of privacy .. if that was the case why not hide the whole task board and not show exactly which tasks each person is working on.

Anyway, To the OP I agree and hope SC will eventually reconsider their decision.

To know who's really working their task

Personally I would prefer to see an option to choose to participate in the derby rather than monitoring other people.

So far I have always done five tasks for the derby , except for once when I didn't notice there was a time limit and it expired. And yet - I would resent being checked on in this manner. What happens if there are a few weeks where I will play less? Do I now need to get permission from someone to do only three tasks or none? Sounds too much like work with a boss, didn't sign up for that. I play this game to relax and I help my neighbors because I like to be able to contribute, not because I feel accountable or am afraid of "getting fired".

I don't begrudge my neighbors receiving the same prizes as me even when they cannot contribute the same as myself and the concept of peering over someone's shoulder is something I wouldn't like to see promoted as part of the game.

I am in the 'no' camp. No to monitoring each other's progress, no to in-house competition, no to singling someone out as best or worst, etc, etc, etc.

But I can see that there is obviously a large number of neighbourhoods who are seeking this change. For most people who have requested it here over the past few weeks, I haven't seen them begrudging a couple of shovels and a pot of jam, I have seen a sense of wanting the hood to do the best they can; if a group of 20 players rely on only ten of them to do the tasks, the ten active players will find it difficult to reach all the prize targets, so those ten players will get frustrated, and the ten abstainers won't mind how many horseshoes or trophies get won, because the prizes are just a free bonus to them. There are valid reasons for wanting to see a hood task log. SC may have to re+think it.

I still hope it doesn't happen! but I don't begrudge others for wanting it.


Perhaps the people who want to see everyone's task log could tell us if an opt-in/opt-out system, whereby a hood of 20 could play as a group of 10 without having to break up a hood, might be helpful instead?

Bear in mind that SC has said it is not likely to implement the public display of individual progress, but it is considering the possibility of a weekly opt-in/opt-out system.

the leader can ask via chat. If they are that interested in micro managing their hood they can set up co leaders or elders to help.

This is NOT needed and SC has wisely said no.

I understand why people want it. I'm not sure an opt-in will solve the issue since in the end it boils down to trust. If people think their neighbors are lying to them, how will opting in change that? They will still need to view other people's derby logs so they can see for themselves. The opt-in seems a reasonable compromise to me.

I don't really see much symmetry between wanting to followup on others and have them "prove" what they've done and preferring to play with neighbors that I trust without keeping tabs on them. So no, I"m not begrudging them their preference, just stating my own.

Totally agree! Someone can change their farm name into something offensive and keep coming back to my farm, and that is not considered violation of my privacy, but a leader cannot check the progress of members which is crucial to derby results. And yes, it is totally okay to be competitive!

Exactly! There is a "No Name & Shame" policy here on the forum. That should extend to the game and if SC would make it possible for leaders to see who has completed (or not completed tasks) it could easily turn into a name, shame and bullying opportunity.

This is a game and things in real life do come up and keep us from playing from time to time. No one should ever be made to feel bad just cuz they can't play the way someone else does or expect them to play.

As with clash of clans - different groups agree on the way to play the game ie minimum donations or participation in war or how many wars. We aren't asking for names, phone numbers or addresses just an overview ie neighbour names with a list of the number of tasks completed. Whether people get kicked over the completion of tasks is up to the group and how they want to run each neighborhood. Similar to clash where everyone can see who has or hasn't attacked in war where the group need to work together to win.

Personally - want the information and think all groups will then choose how to operate. Some play casually others want a system to enforce everyone helps out.:rolleyes:

SC have been quite clear that it's not just about privacy, it's also about the type of game they want Hayday to be. Hayday is not Clash of Clans and SC have a business interest to attract a different type of audience.

With this in mind it becomes clear why SC have declined to provide the tools which would allow enforcing a more competetive playstyle - that's simply not the direction in which they chose to take the game. The derby was introduced as just another element, it is not suddenly the central and most critical component of the game. Hayday remains an open-ended farming game with a cooperative element - by Supercell's choice.

As of now, the only way to check on people is through their cooperation - ask them to send you a screenshot of their log or make a NH forum where they can post it. It doesn't appear that this decision will change any time soon and I, for one, am glad. I have no interest in checking on other people or having them check on me. This isn't a workplace, it's a hobby. The more posts I read by people wanting information on others, I agree more and more with SC's decision.

1. This is not clash of clans. There is no war here.

2. Option is ruled out. Time to rethink how to get information

3. You can still get information. Ask hoodies for it. Called cooperation, not war.

So just to be clear, leaders can't see which tasks I've completed, what point tasks they were and how many tasks I completed? One of the co leaders in my NH said she could see it all?

This is a very old thread, and circumstances are likely to have changed since it was started. I'm therefore going to close this thread now but, before I do, I will explain how the Neighbourhood Derby Task Log (NDTL) works nowadays.

The NDTL appears at the left of your in-game screen, in the same place as the neighbourhood chat; it has a horseshoe on the tab. The NDTL can be set to be visible or not by the Leader or a Co-leader. If it is set to be visible, it can be seen by every hoodie who is in the Derby.

The NDTL shows the number of tasks completed, and the total points gained so far, for each member. That means you will see, for example "A Farmer - tasks 6/9 - points 1804". That means that A Farmer has currently completed 6 tasks. He or she may be working on task 7, but that won't register until it is completed. (However, if A Farmer uses diamonds to buy the tenth task that will show straight away, as in 9/10).

Details of the type of task, and the individual task points are not recorded in the NDTL. As a leader, I also watch the task board, as I can see from that the details of the task that each hoodie is currently working on. That is probably what your Co-leader meant.

(Let me stress that I don't micromanage my hood; we run a relaxed Derby!)
