My biggest mistake in Clash of Clans_Quitting

I am not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but I just want to share my frustration, and the biggest mistake I have made in my life. I have started playing Clash of Clans about a year and a half ago, and like everyone here, I loved the game . I spent many hours per day clashing, warring, and having fun with my clanmates. I farmed hard, and a couple of months ago, I was a mid maxed th9 with lvl15 heros, and that's when I was tempted to start gemming. I gemmed my royals all the way to lvl30. Soon after that, I moved to th10 and I started pushing . I Pushed all the way to 3400 before gemming everything ( Including heroes). Between the gem cost for upgrades, and the gem cost for trophy pushing, I spent over 7000 dollars, which I did not mind a lot since I was having fun.

After the air sweeper update, I could not log to my account ( and I guess many people were having the same issue as well), so I waited for the fix to come. When it did, me and a couple of my friends were not able to play the game when using wifi, so I contacted SC support, and I did create a couple of threads in the problems & bugs section of the forum. The forum community was so nice, and everybody was trying to help...everybody except Supercell!!

I received an email from Supercell asking me to check some basic staff like the memory of the devices ans so on. I Replied that I have done everything I could, and nothing works. Then they sent me the same msg again!! ( Like if they did not even read my previous message). After a couple of trials, I finally got the ultimate msg: "we cannot do anything to help. There must be something wrong with your ISP".

Now, even if I doubt that my ISP would block clash ( right after the update), i went and checked with them, and like I expected, it was not their fault.

So now, I am in the situation where I have spent thousands of dollars worth of gems on a maxed base above 4000 trophies, but I cannot play the game using wifi ( 3G still works), and Supercell has done nothing to help ( from their replies, I can tell they barely read my messages). If a company does not care about the crashes of its own game, and does not care about its customers who spent money on their products ( let alone people who did not), then why Should I care? That's why I decided to stop playing the game. It was basically a fun experience ruined by a careless support.

The only advice for all of you who might wanna start gemming: know that if you are in trouble, it does not mean that SC will necessarlly help.

Note: plz don't move this thread to problems & bugs as I am sharing a frustration, and not the bug itself ( which is already known).

Can't you play over Network or perhaps on someone's Personal Hotspot?

And the moral of the story: dont gem, kids;)

SC thinks that even if they help you, that will not make you gem more than you have already did, so what you have spent is maybe enough for them, it's not like you can take that 7000 dollars back right?

I'd make sure your village is properly backed (gamecenter, etc), then uninstall / re-install.

Also, what platform are you running on? If it's Apple, are you running an updated IOS? I really don't see how that would create a WiFi issue, but the need to update the IOS was one of the things that SC really tried make folks aware of before that particular update.

yes, learn to know SC. they first get a ton of money of of you (ofcourse this is your own choice) but then, they won't even help you when their own stuff is broken. till they lose players and they have to push update after update to get people to play their game again. there is a big lack in the support of SC

You gotta appreciate that whilst it does suck for the soap, and it would be nice to get full support, you are free to play the game as you wish and choose whether to spend money on it, and terms of service likely state that you play the game for free at your own discretion with no obligations from them to you.

It's ♥♥♥♥, but a huge catch of capitalism and especially the ftp business model. Potentially people will put tons of money in and feel like they should be entitled to full support, but of course unless that's a legal binding, that's never gonna happen.

And they give us stupid updates after 2-3 month gap,Clan chat is the only reason I login SOMETIMES.

I think SC shouldn't neglect gem buyers like you.

How many WiFi networks have you attempted to play on?

7000$ spent on a game? Rich man.. $_$ lol
The moral is don't spend too much money on a game

When I was playing a PC MMO, the $15 per month subscription gave me pretty good support. Once, I was wrongly banned, and it was reversed within 24 hours with a detailed apology. When I had a problem where my PC would reboot randomly while playing the game, I got email support with daily mails until the very complicated problem was solved.

One would think that spending $7000 on a game would entitle you to decent customer support :thumbsdown:

I have tried other Wifi networks, but they just don't work. I can still play over 3G, but that's not the issue. The wake up call was SC's support that could not care less about my problem.

I am on Android. All my Android devices are having the same issue . ( and yes, I have the latest os version installed)

I have received several standard replays from them. It usually works to write back with capital letters. "Do you even read what I just wrote to you???" Then I got a non standard reply

I guess customer support is more related to the company's culture than what people spend. The best customer support I have ever experienced was from Google ( which got 0 penny from me; and funnily enough it was related to buying gems on the google play the first time)

Every descent company should allow its users ( whether they spend money or not) an acceptable level of customer support. Look at Google, Viber, or any other self respecting company that provides free services. They all have some of the best supports.

I wouldn't be surprised is more maxed players start having 'technical trouble' to log into their account. That's what happens when a company with no connection to something runs a business on that (Softbank running a game company being a telco operator)!

I think they should not neglect any of the players ( gemmers or not). If the game is as successful as it is today, it is mainly thanks to the players.

Sorry you had to restart from scratch as well.

If you are the only one having this problem, I don't see how the problem could be anywhere but on your end.

Are your devices rooted at all? Are you running any mods or häcks? I don't mean just chėater apps... Have you modified your software in any way?

Quite a bad investment, in my opinion.

I do not understand why you publicly go out like this and say "I quit!", as if to punish someone. The only individual who gets affected is you, and you only. All that time and money was your doings. And by the sound of it, the connection problem is on your end as well, as you could connect to it over 3g. Not on the server side of things.

I suggest you test these things as well. It may be a problem with your router, cables or something related to your household. Search around, look on other forums for people who have the same problem, and see what has been said or there is an answer.

EDIT: reading through other comments, it seems like your device have wifi problems. I suggest you check it out with your retailer. The SC support have tons of other customers to go through, and if the problem is on your end, naturally they wont waste time on your case. Sounds harsh, but truth often is.

I download private server and when i open my clash of clans the private server always apear i think its rooted and i dnt know how to unroot my phone i reformat my phone and dwnload again the coc but its the same private server always apear pls help if anybody knows i rilli want to play my coc im using cherry mobile fuze s

I have read several complaints after the update referring to android users not being able to login to their villages. So it seems legit

Is it an I device? If so, try another. My Iphone will not let me play clash on wifi. I connect fine, but DC every time I try to do something. My android tablet, however, works fine. So, try another device. if you have that much invested, $100 for a different brand of tablet isnt bad.

Something just occurred to me... At my work, several ports are blocked, because of their use in other nefarious activities (Bit Torrent, for example). As a result, COC also happens to be blocked, and is unable to be accessed from their wifi.

Perhaps your router, or your software is blocking the port which is used by Clash of Clans.

You spent $7000. Buy an Ipad for $300 and try that out??

It is obviously on your end, because millions of people have android and apple devices and are not having problems. Especially if it works over 3G, it's an issue that is not the cause of SuperCell. What are they supposed to do, come over and test your internet connections?

Not trying to be a jerk, but I mean you invested $7k and you don't even try to really troubleshoot the issue. Buy another device, test on another wifi with a different ISP etc.. Just want to blame someone for your problem, instead of trying to fix it.

If it is working on 3G but not on wifi it is either your device, your home network or your ISP. Supercell can do nothing for you. This has nothing to do with the update.

Having said that, the issue is most probably on your end.

Hi,

have you tried recovering your village to another device - download a fresh clash app on a new device, just log into your Google+ or GC account associated with the one on the old device.

The issue is definitely on your end, but that just makes it much easier to pinpoint what's causing the issue.

You're saying 3G works but Wi-fi doesn't. What happens if you set up a Wi-fi hotspot using one of your Android devices via 3G? This uses the 3G connection but relays it via Wi-fi.

If the problem gets fixed, then it's either incompatible router/modem or some app you installed on all your Android devices. Are you using a VPN? If so, try turning it off.

You should also try simply resetting your router/modem with the manuals information (usually 20'ish seconds pressing a button you can only reach with a pen)

If the hotspot doesn't fix the issue, then it's definitely some issue regarding Wi-fi.

You said the issue is with all your Android devices and all Wi-fi networks. This sounds like some app you've installed on all of the devices. I'd suggest giving one of them a factory reset without syncing any of the apps. Then just installing Clash and seeing that works.

If you have a firewall or security software, I would look into that. Be sure to have port forwarding for 9339.

Incidentally, I commented in another thread that the Android version is far more complex and buggy due to the nature of Android being a multi platform OS. Getting it right for every platform is virtually impossible, and from a coding perspective when they implement a change to fix operation on one brand, it breaks on another. Android also has inherent flaws in its wireless connectivity management (BT, Wifi and cellular) and the often built in power saving functions create momentary signal drops you wouldn't notice or experience in other apps, but with continued server check dependency increases in Clash, may be responsible.

I've suggested disabling any 'economy' wireless management options on your devices. It will chew through the battery more, but may resolve some issues.

From what I see download this app called VPN and it'll be the first one that shows and it'll also say betternet next to the title. Download it and go into settings and it'll be right there. Flip it on when your connected. It'll unblock everything. I usually use it when I'm in school to bypass the fire wall to get on clash lol. Btw for iPhones only I believe.

My wifi was loading clash normally before the update, and suddenly has stopped doing so right after the update. Since many of my friends are having the same issue, then it HAS something to do with the update. For instance, SC might have changed the ports needed by the game (which may be blocked by the router ). However, when I asked them about any changes related to internet ports, they did not provide me with any info.

Probably Sc changed the ports needed to load the game after the update ( thats the only explanation i could come up with). I have emailed SC asking them if they changed anything ( so that I can start debugging at home), but they gave me no information ( except generic messages related to memory managements)

It was for sharing purposes only. BTW, I doubt that all of my devices ( 4 ) started having wifi issues right after the update. Also, I doubt that other friends started having issues with their devices/ routers right after the update. Lets call a spade a spade, and let's agree that the update broke something ( at least for many Android users). You can check the bugs section of the forum, and you will see full clans not being able to access their accounts.

I have 4 other devices with the same issue. I will not spend more money just to test something, while SC does not even care .

BTW, I am not the only having this issue. Look at the problems&bugs sections of the forum, and you will see tens of threads related to Android loading issues after the update.

So today I got the final answer from Supercell. They simply denied their responsibility. They denied the fact the the sweeper update caused connection issues to some Android Devices. I ended up requesting the ports that COC is using ( since I am able to load Boom Beach, and Hay Day; I am assuming supercell games use different ports), and guess what answer I got? "CHIEF, you need a reliable internet connection" like if I did not know that already. They completely dodged my question ( not the first time by the way). So here you have you have. Thanks for the worst customer support ever!!

Spend 7k on gems but can't spend a few hours to trouble shoot? Priorities!

I HIGHLY doubt this is related to your individual base, it is either related to your phone, your installation, your wifi OR some other aspect you've failed to mention (Banned maybe?)

In any case if you've spent $7,000 on this game....AND you've already reinstalled AND you've tried other Wifi networks....

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ can get you banned by the ToS (i think), but either way the device is unsupported.

I said, all of my Android devices are having the same issue ( right after the update). SC changed the internet ports needed by the game without letting us know. That's the only explanation. What are the chances that many Android users started having the same issue right after the update? As a software engineer, I can tell with 99% confidence that the hardware is not the issue!!

You missed the whole point of the thread.. It is about the horrible customer support, not priorities ( nor how to fix the issue as I can still play using 3G).

It is the same exact issue. The optional update solved the issue for many players, but there are still few more ( Including myself) suffering for the infinite loading screen. The worst part is that SC is denying their responsibility( in the emails I receive). A simple acknowledgment of the issue, and a promess to solve it in the future is all what i was hopping for. So you demand more and better customer service over the free players asking inappropriate bases to be suspended? How egalitarian.

Besides they don't need to provide any customer service beyond some pre-written boilerplate, they have your money and you can't get it back.

what do they mean that they are not responsible? this is their game they must be responsible if something goes wrong... And not telling everyone something is wrong with the device. note this problem started after the air sweeper update!!

Yeap..trying to convince us that many devices/ISPs started having problems right after the air sweeper update. What a joke SC!!

I have the same problem. After the air sweeper update I cannot play properly using wifi (which I prefer to use than 3G because its more stable) though 3G (mobile data) is fine. I always get the low/weak connection sign 5 seconds after logging in in the game. I once resolved the issue by uninstalling and re-installing the game, but after a few hours, the problem is back again. I hope SC will resolve this issue because I don't want to uninstall and re-install the game every time I want to play.

well this is new to me.. i got cheap chinese tablet and it work fine now.

and in the future i will got the same symptom for this.
i got to check the port now XD
