Smelters.. Such a waste

I'm sorry, I get the whole supply and demand of this game, but the smelters are insane! You can mine pretty fast and materials aren't to hard to find. That works. Then you get them in the smelter and even though I have ALL 5 AND I have extra slots in them.. I never have my jewelry maker making more then one thing. It takes SO long to make the bar of metal. Now.. I get that it makes the jewelry more rare, but here's the problem..

..the jewelry sells for to cheap, in my opinion! I mean I can make 10 times more with dairy or pies then jewelry?! Given the time it takes for the smelters & jewelry, one would think they'd be worth more! Then the diamond ring, with an actual diamond.. Sells for WAY too cheap.

i don't understand the logic in the smelters. :confused:

I'm with you. What a waste of space and time. The only thing I make on a regular basis is the bracelet. Then I sell them but I don't really need the coin. I know someone is going to post how this isn't the correct way to do things, but its a game and we all play differently.

Metal bars and jewerly are for VOUCHERS only. I mean you can sell that, but selling bars and jewelry equals to wasting it.

The only purpose of smelters and jeweller is truck delivery for vouchers, this is it. Close the topic.

I'm sorry. This is a general board and I am sure I am not the only person that feels this way. I understand and I get the vouchers through truck orders, I just feel that there really should be a price increase on the jewelry if it stands on the supply and demand of the game.

"Close the topic." That's really rude IMO. We are allowed to freely discuss topics and aspects of the game as long as we are doing it courteously and respecting everyone's opinion and feedback. I'm sorry this topic annoyed you, but no one forced you to read it. :confused:

Personally I don't sell my jewellery. Everything I make I send on truck orders and I quite often buy jewellery if I see it in shops. Very often you can send the max priced jewellery on a truck with and make a gold profit besides the xp and vouchers you get and I still have a use for vouchers because I am saving for my last horse and waterfall.

I have 2 jewellery truck orders on the board right now.
2 Diamond rings. Max price in shop: 1411. Truck order reward: 3122 gold, 182 xp and a random voucher.
2 Necklaces: Mac price in shop: 1216. Truck reward: 1489 gold, 244 xp and a random voucher.

So in my opinion truck orders do give a better reward but I don't mind that because it makes it easier to sell for people who are just selling jewellery.

thanks for the reaffirmation that i don't need the mine and smelter! i'm level 31 now and have no intention of getting them. i too think they're pretty useless and maybe i'll just repair the mine for the fun of it when i'm at say... level 100.

Personally I have to disagree. While at these levels you need the gold much more for other machines it's definitely worth it to work the mine and smelt bars.

Every now and then when mining it does drop a diamond. Collecting ore and finished bars do give XP which all add up when levelling. While collecting random items drop and the more you collect the more will drop. If you ever aim to finish the Helter Smelter achievement it's best to start as soon as you can because you need to make 3800 bars to finish it. There is also the gold miner achievement so that's 2 achievements for mining (both of which I haven't finished yet). Not to mention the production tycoon for having production buildings.

Sending these on truck orders will help you get vouchers (and xp) faster. Those vouchers can be used to get pets. Waking award xp and randomly dropped items like barn and silo upgrade material and so on. I am 1 horse short of a full collection and I get 5 or 6 bonus items each time I wake my pets.

So eventually by not mining / smelting at all you miss out on:
- Diamonds
- Getting achievements (which mean more diamonds)
- Random bonus items, upgrade material for barn, silo and land, saws and axes and mining stuff.
- XP
I am not saying you can't get them in other ways I am saying you could accumulate these things faster when tending to you farm.

thanks for the tips! i'll bear what you said in mind. when you mentioned gold, you do mean the coins don't you? i actually think i need more gold vouchers more than the coins, will mining/making jewelry make it easier for me to get the vouchers? they're just tooooo rare, even rarer than diamonds!

You get colored vouchers from the bar and Jewelry orders on the board of the truck orders. They are special orders, not Yellow but a bit blue ish.

Yes you may get gold vouchers from those orders.

this is another reason why having smelters and jeweller is a good idea

Of course you can save for them last if you are still saving gold coins for, say, the juice or ce cream machine.

Gold vouchers are naturally very rare, if you look at how many diamonds it takes to add one gold voucher in comparison to the green and blue.

In my first paragraph I meant the gold coins yes because you are around the levels were it's easy to level but machines like ice cream maker, jam maker and jeweller seem expensive. So I probably wouldn't buy all 5 smelters just yet as the price increases on each one. If you're at level 31 you can't make jewellery yet because the jeweller only unlocks at level 38 and in that case you can't buy it either but you can make bars and send bars on trucks.

The voucher you get are random but when working on the boat and doing other stuff you can make a metal bar every now and then as it's pretty easy to keep it running. It does take a lot of time to make them but the truck orders for bars and jewellery give vouchers. Although they are just as random as the boat's voucher they also give gold every now and then. In the end it does add up even when it is slowly.
