- Golems need to do the tanking
- wizards and AQ need to be at the back of the attack
So, my strategy is as follows:
1. Choose an entry point that a) means you can mitigate the troops doing a lap (see point 3), and b) allows good access to the TH
2. Drop the golems around this entry point, but spread them out a lttile bit so that they tank the maximum amount of defences (remember that they will head for the nearest defence, not merely the nearest item)
3. Drop a couple of wizards either side of the entry point to take out the outer bits that your troops might move onto, this stops the 'lap around' problem. (For example, if your entry point is at 12 o'clock, you will want to take out the bits at 10/11 o'clock and 1/2 o'clock). What is essential here is that you have worked out what bits these couple of wizards need to take out, where you will drop them, and what defences they will be in range of. Be sure that your golems tank these defences.
4. Once the defences that the wizards are taking down are done (or at least close to), drop your pekkas and you BK, and your WB at and around the entry point.
5. Then drop your wizards behind those (I spread them out a wee bit), I like to drop about two thirds of them, and drop the remainder a bit later. Also drop your AQ at this point
6. I tend to use the BK rage first, ideally with the pekkas and the golems alongside, and also use a healing spell to keep them all topped up. This is usually at the point that the CC troops are causing problems.
7. Then use rage spells (and any additional healing spell you might also have with you) to get them to the TH and get it down.
8. I would also drop the remainder of the wizards, either behind all of this, or at a strategic point elsewhere.
The reasons I find I do not 3 star with GOWIPE are usually:
- I am distracted with the different steps to get the troops dropped, and the golems or pekka lose too much health
- I am distracted by the golems & pekkas, and do not get the wizards, BK and AQ down quick enough, and they end up doing a lap.
- I use my spells too early on, and get an easy 2 star, but then left with not much else for the 3 star, so either die or run out of time
- I save my spells too long, and pekkas die
- My wizards get too close to the golems and pekkas, and die in splash damage
As you can see, it is a bit of a balancing act, but as long as you avoid the 'lap around' problem, and focus on getting your pekkas and golems to the TH, you should 2 star without too much problem. I will occasionally use a jump spell to help them get to the TH, this is usually with a base that I think will be too tough to 3 star.
This is my way, I am sure there are others that do it differently, I hope it helps, good luck (unless you are attacking me!).
