Flag Decals

OK. So there are a ton of threads in here on new flags/removing flags to get rid of requests for new flags. So I figured out a solution. Get rid of every flag but white flag. Now, I don't literally mean no more flags, refund the money. That would just make WAY to many people rage. What my idea is that you buy the white flag, and only the white flag. add a new section into the store, called the Flag Decal section. Here, you buy a flag decal. That way rather than needing a new flag, SC can just upload pictures. Dealing with the ever prominent "More flags causes lag" excuse. For anyone already in possession of a non-white flag, they get a free decal of whatever flag picture they have. The price of the pictures would be the same of a current country flag, minus the white flag. This could also allow the ever prominent color requests. To choose whichever decal you want, you would click the flag, and press a button, like with a barrack, and choose whichever of the flag decals you have unlocked. This would make it a lot easier to add new flags, because adding an entire new flag is WAY harder than adding a picture. Opinions?

Players complain because their countries flag isn't in game. Take away the flags currently in game and players will complain.

Nothing can can be done. Any flag solution/fix suggested is a no win proposition.

Did you even read more than the first line? I don't want people to get rid of flags. I want the non-white flags (Minus pirate flag, as it costs gems) to be removed, and replaced with flag decals, which you can purchase, add to white flags, and make it easier to add in new flags besides making a new flag. Anyone with a current flag would get a decal of that flag to put on the white flag. Please read the ENTIRE thread again, then tell me what you think.

Yes, I read your ENTIRE post. And reading it a second time wouldn't change my response. I understand you're trying to come up with a solution that appeases everyone. And I appreciate that. But there is nothing that's going to get done with flags that will stop the onslaught of flag requests here. IMO it's a waste of time suggesting anything to do with flags. Supercell has stated their intentions regarding flags in the game. And we all have to deal with it like it, love it or hate it.

you mean, a "blank" flag model with a white default texture for the flag?

I agree...

-we can select which country flag texture we want for same price
-reduces game size because what is required is just a white flag (model). then we can choose our country flag (image) so the game can "re-skin" the flag. (i think this is what you mean?)

This has been suggested before, although different descriptive and key words may be been used.

The problem with flags being variable, is it increases the burden of device’s graphics library. Every time a person views another person’s village or war base, the graphics library has to display the flag/skin/image (whatever you choose to call it) so it needs to be available for download, stored and viewed.

Before you suggest transmitting and displaying a blank white flag alone to any viewer and not the user selected graphic, two points spring to mind 1). why bother if no-one can view you village flag and 2) I can’t recall but maybe I will add later.

This is not a simple substitution issue. It involves major coding, apps design changes and deployment.

LukeNQ is correct, flags are a no-win situation.

I don't see how a picture can take up more space in the graphic library than a flag.

“A” picture doesn’t take up much space. But the hundreds if not thousands of pictures that people will expect and request WILL take up more space than the fairly small selection currently available. There is a valid reason why SC doesn’t increase the numbers of flags.

Including all available images in a graphics library is more reliable and efficient than downloading them on demand.

I haven’t made up my first post. It has been mentioned by other people in the thousands of flag whinge errrr request threads.

The current theory that is talked about here A New Idea for the Flag Issue (since SC hasn't said any details on it yet) is that adding all the country flags, which would put an end to this debate (more or less.. hopefully) is that it would fatten up an app that SC tries thier best to keep as slim and trim as possible. So the issue isn't that the IU would need to be modified (which it would, but not hard) or lag of somekind (being newer mobile devices out now are geared more towards graphics processing), but just getting those things to fit into the app.

Templates, blanks flags to put designs on, none of those will work if they are going to stick with how flags currently are. They would have to trim down the file sizes greatly to hope to get things to fit. And those ideas on how to do that I've posted there.

Latest idea that hit me was the use of SVG files, which if able to be implemented, would drastically reduce the size of flag graphics, assuming we are fine with static flags (not animated ones that flap in the wind).
