The problem with flags being variable, is it increases the burden of device’s graphics library. Every time a person views another person’s village or war base, the graphics library has to display the flag/skin/image (whatever you choose to call it) so it needs to be available for download, stored and viewed.
Before you suggest transmitting and displaying a blank white flag alone to any viewer and not the user selected graphic, two points spring to mind 1). why bother if no-one can view you village flag and 2) I can’t recall but maybe I will add later.
This is not a simple substitution issue. It involves major coding, apps design changes and deployment.
LukeNQ is correct, flags are a no-win situation.
