Ban Feature: So Leaders and Co Leaders can Permanently ban Clan Hoppers

My clan IMMORTAL EMPIRE is over two years old, we been playing a very long time, in fact we played the top 50 global rank for 10 months! Back then it was easy for higher ranked players to find us, today we average 31K and generally recruit at the 3100-3200 setting.

While the clan is set to invite only we get fewer join requests, and over time our membership numbers go down. Whereas when we set the clan to open we get plenty of people joining up to 45.

Here is the problem. While set to open, we get flooded with champs that come, and leave quickly. Some are quite aggravating, because they ask for PEKKAS etc, and we want our new members to feel welcomed, but right after we donate to them, they leave. Which leaves everyone in our clan that is online frustrated.

The kick feature does put a 24 hour ban, however once they are gone its too late to use the kick feature. So these clan hoppers are free to come and go again, which of course gives us opportunity to kick them, but that is not the point. There are some people we would prefer NOT to come back, because of their poor treatment of our clan and clan mates, taking advantage of our generosity.

If there was a ban feature that co leaders and leaders could use, with the added ability to add a short note explaining why they were banned it would go a long ways to solve a very old and aggravating problem within Clash of Clans. If their new clan leaders and co leaders could read these notes they would have more of a history and be able to see a pattern of their behavior, which would help them decide if they were really the kind of players they want joining their clans.

If these features were available, then players would in most cases be more careful about keeping their clan track record clean of these negative marks against them.

I hope some one with some power to do something reads this and strongly considers this recommendation or comes up with a similar idea that would help solve the clan hopping problem. I hate clan hoppers, they are a cancer to this game and take aware from the fun from playing it. Thank you for your consideration.

Stop trying to change the way people choose to play the game. You might like it but you just have to.learn to live with it.

Why should SC create a function that negatively affects players who currently play within the rules and is open to abuse ?

What about FLAG-ing the hopper id ? just like forums' GRP & BRP (Reputation) so that everyone can see how many flag that id has before accepting to the clan

Good idea by the above poster.Exploitations pointed out by DjPewds.However,this exploit could be prevented if only the LEADER could ban players.Yes,I understand leaders can't be online all the time.But,what if the clan members are able to send a request to the leader.It could be something like 'Kindly ban XXXXX as he is a bad member".Then this would pave the way for more exploits.New members would report old and faithful ones.Easily prevented by allowing the Leader to pick the members who can report.Then his inbox wouldn't be spammed and would destroy the possibility of exploitation

People are misusing the word “exploit” in this thread.

A function that labels players as being banned by clan xyz can be abused not exploited.

It would be all too easy to put in a feasible but inaccurate reason for a ban. It would be all too easy to put in an accurate but unreasonable reason for a ban. But in the end, a player is now labelled unfairly with a negative reputation, the game doesn’t benefit and eventually most clans wouldn’t rely on it.

Negative reputation alone, deserved or otherwise, would rule this out by SC.

Ultimately, I make the judgement call to accept, reject or kick people on the basis of how they act in MY clan.

That's not an exploit. Nor does it make or break anything as to trolling. A troll co can do damage so many ways that it is always going to be up to the leader to manage his clan carefully (don't promote just anybody because you want them to like you or because they would leave if you don't) and its up to the leader to clean up the damage after anyhow. Frankly removing the guys from the ban list is going to be easier than getting them back to the clan (I assuming the troll would have kicked too)

This is actually a good suggestion that would be a nice tool for leader that are good managers to better keep things in their clan smooth and more drama free.

While I am not against having a small black list available to each clan I don't see why it should need to be more than 10 names or so long. We have one potty mouthed kid who we kicked out almost a year ago who simply applies to join so he can put vulgarity in the request. I see no value in using this technique as a hopper shield though. To help you understand why trying to punish/regulate hoppers is a bad idea and give you some information about how most of us identify and deal with them so they are no longer an issue I present the following . . . again.

No. This is a bad idea every time it is suggested because it will cause more, worse problems than "hoppers" already represent. Here is pretty much everything you need to know about dealing with hoppers. Both what will happen if you get your way and how everybody else has learned to deal with 99% of them quickly and easily.

First, SC has a long standing policy of not putting a negative statistic/badge/mark/rank/etc. of any kind on any players profile. They have a fairly strict no name-n-shame policy, as they should. You can accept those ideas as ruled out at face value.

Also, in an effort to not only help the OP understand the horrible repercussions of their idea, here is a list of many of the most common things successful clans do to prevent "D-bag hoppers" from being a nuisance (a nuisance, not a problem). Quoting myself from a recent thread again . . .

Others may chime in with additional ideas but those are the basic ones. Follow those and hoppers will end 99% instantly. Not to mention you will crack a smile when you apply your boots to their crack.

All of us clan leader types have experienced this and learned to preventing through our own leadership skills and clan rules. There is no need to institute a system that will punish the most social and giving players while making the lowest quality players more destructive.
In my time on the forum here I still have yet to see the answer to these simple questions. Why do you want to force somebody that you don't want in your clan, to be stuck in your clan?

The Leader should be able to ban people from his clan. It's impossible to make sure all elders and co leaders know about that one kid from two years ago who tries to join every month or so to troll. With the name change feature this is even harder.

The Leader should be able to permanently ban clashers from his/her clan.
