Clan Websites

I would like to see a clan website that can be hosted by Supercell. The website can be paid (a small charge, say $10 or 1000 gems a month) and bought by either a leader or co-leader of a clan to cover server and coding costs.

All war data could be uploaded to the clan website (www.supercell.com/clash/#clantag) and tracked like it currently is in the war logs, but for a longer period (say a year) with all attack videos available to be viewed.

I would also like all war information, attacks, duration, total stars and new stars available to be downloaded via csv or excel.

Clans could also have their own mini-forum and possibly a chat feature?

Any other ideas/suggestions for something like this?

Why do you need SuperCell to host this?

There are lots of sites out there (free!) that can do most, if not all, of what you are asking for. Find one, and enjoy!

So you're saying there's a site that can automatically back up all war data, all attack videos, and the war stats/war events/my team/enemy team pages without any interaction or time consumed by me?

Sarcasm? He meant there's a lot of websites that host free websites for you.

This would be an absolutely nightmare to execute and excessive to manage.

Especially the saved replay request. You do realize replays are NOT video files right? They are data files that is converted to a viewable raid by the app itself. It would require a system that would take and render the app into a web viewable format like AVI, etc.

Now you want this system to be able to do this "backup" automatically, for hundreds if not thousands, if not MILLIONS of possible users.

This is a completely whole new service!

Some people want Supercell to do merchandising, that would be 100 time easier to start and manage then this system you are trying to achieve. Supercell is not doing merchandising yet, I doubt they'd consider creating this new website/hosting service that you are recommended.

Don't get me wrong, it's be great, but the first step if they wanted this type of system would be to create an API to allow others to create their own interfaces. Then a bright, enterprising Clasher can take that API and create and host this website hosting service you seek and manage it themselves.

However, I am doubtful that Supercell would be willing to released this much control for anyone to do with freely...

I understand that. My concern is not so much Supercell hosting a website for me, it's all the other stuff that I asked for. Hence his reply was quite worthy of my sarcasm.

I want them to do all the automatic updating of my website, for which I or other clan leaders, would pay. They host the data currently, it's in the game. I simply want them to make this data available on a medium such as a website, with more options on how I can access the data and for a longer duration.

You realize it's much more complicated then just making data they already have stored accessible on a website....

I have faith that the coders at Supercell are smart guys. They built an entire game that can be played on multiple OS', I'm sure they can figure out how to transfer data to a website. Especially if there's enough interest in paying a monthly subscription fee for that website.

It's an entirely new revenue stream.

And you think they need more revenue when they hold the spot on the top charts?

You clearly have no idea how websites work or coding. If you really wanted this and showed the initiative to achieve it; you would go out and MAKE it yourself. There are tons of clans with actual websites. Tons of clans with their own YouTube channel. No one needs supercell yo do this. Oh! And btw; supercell's site is paid monthly. They have to pay for the networking required to run this site and the host.

I have confident that they can FIND someone to do the coding for them.

Just because they can program a mobile app doesn't mean they can program PHP/ASP or mySQL database code. Or know how to integrate data from one programming language (whatever is used for Clash of Clans App) and translate it into a mySQL database.

That's like saying because you can speak Spanish, you shouldn't have a problem speaking French.

And just because they can doesn't mean they should.

Who will pay for this service? You? Great, we've got $10! How many more? 100? 1000? 2000? Great, $200,000 in revenue. For how much invested to create this system? How much to maintain it? How much to provide customer support? How much developer time to allocate it versus the game itself?

What is the profit margin for this? The game made them upwards for $1 BILLLION dollars last year. Why give themselves headaches with a new THING that may not even produce enough to make the effort worthwhile?

Again, they haven't even tried to do Merchandising yet and that's a much lower hanging fruit. Heck, they could just license it out to a manufacturer and distributor and call it a day. If they haven't taken the time to add that to their daily to do's, what you're asking for is far out of realm!
