Plz i wanna help clean up this fourm
It requires the Staff and other Mods to trust you, as well as sacrifice your personal habits and behaviors since you are a representative of the forum, and not a regular forum goer. What you say can and will be used against you and the people you represent. Plus you need to be level headed and as objective as possible all the time, even to the rudest and most insulting person that walks in.
Are you sure you can really take that?
Or i would atleast like there to be mods that are actualy active cause the current ones are never on Anways i just want the ability to delete threads on items that are ruled out and i dealt with one of the rudest most insulting players ever but if the mods actually get active i wont need to be a mod then
No offense, but someone who joined this month and has less than 50 posts isn't really an ideal candidate for moderator.
Also, you must be 18+ years old (not sure if that's an issue for you, just throwing that out there).
This is so true and so well said. I too have considered being a moderator, and also I have weighed the behavior changes I would have to make. I am positive I can make them. But I am less positive I want to. I even today included thoughts in a response on the hopper thread that if I was a moderator I would have to keep to myself.
I think the OP should be applauded for his good thought. And he is correct in his observation that there is work there that is not getting done. (Its why more than a few of us have put up that we are willing to consider taking on the task). But I think also that if they ever take someone it has to be a person that has been here a long time with a lot of interaction. Despite how good the OPs observations are so far, there is no way that after just 50 posts he can have the total picture a moderator has to deal with.
Yeah, when you think about it, it is intimating, and restricting. It is like being a Genie, lots of power, and not a lot of personal freedoms and ability to take personal liberties on things.
Also by the sounds of it, you have a lot of work there as it is with those accounts (and who knows what else you have). A Mod needs to actually have free time to do thier job, and so would have to drop something to be able to do thier job if busy with other things.
As said, trust and reputation needs to be established. New people just can't walk in and mod, unless they are the ones starting up the forum. Experience is very helpful as well, either as being a Mod before, or experience in the area they want to Mod. Having a working memory of what is going on makes it 10 times easier to be able to make judgement calls, look up needed info, and recall the rules you are tasked to enforce.
I'm getting sick of the state of things too, but if I jump in as Mod (assuming if accepted), the WarrenJames that people are used to would be in effect gone. I'd have to have a whole new demeanor to fit the task. I can't pose ideas like I could before, I can't get away with ranting and venting like I could (when I do those, I do try to tack on a suggestion or idea relating to it the game annoyance) and I'd have to watch every word I make, and can't toy with the few dedicated trolls here. I would likely have to ban them on sight 80% of the time, and not try to just trivialize thier trolling attempts.
But the forum does need something badly..
How about a new account called BANiacPro that just goes around reading the posting history of forum trolls, thread bumpers, ruled out idea posters, bullies, time wasters, and stupid people and just bans them if their idiocy level is too high. BrainiacPro wouldn't have to give up his sarcastic ravings, and the forums would be a better and safer place.
