I'm sure when people buy gems they use them to heal heros buy resources and upgrade things. you rarely see people buy 14000 gems and use them on collector boosting right? when you can buy the resources.

Collectors are not the only boost available. But yes I raid many villages with boosted pumps. And I bet supercell statistics show that pumps are a big part of boosting.
