1 person clan disband

How many inactive clans are there with 1 person in this game? I think there needs to be a one time clan disband for all clans with 1 player in it. This would help get rid of many clans with the same name.Thank you, you just led me to an even better idea. Instead of private/public I think it would be better understood if it was called Public/Hidden. This way 1 person clans would be switched to Hidden one time and they would they have to change it to Public themselves also ensuring that they are active. This way military Jim would never loot his clan XP, clan level, or clan. It would not hurt anyone while still cleaning up the clan search list and will make clans easier to find just searching the name.
I disagree with the idea of clans taking up server space, i'm sure SC has more than enough of that. I just think the clan list needs to be cleaned up a little. Like I said if SC wanted to do this they should make a 2 week notice, giving the option to make your clan public or private, that way the active 1 person clans could make their clan private and it wouldn't be disbanded. For the person who said they just want a clan for an intimidating name and cool looking shield there is your solution. I'm not saying this topic is urgent, but it for sure is something to look into. This topic is similar to a DVR if you have one or know what it is. It is okay and doesn't hurt you or anyone else for your DVR to be at 85% full but you just don't want it to be. You don't want a DVR full of recorded shows you have already watched you want new ones you have not watched. Anyways I hope this adds a little bit of understanding to this discussion.

Very, very, good idea. I can't stress it enough. This is the greatest idea I've seen in a while.

IMO, they should get a notice for 7 days first, so the one-man/woman clan don't get effected just because they choose to be a lone wolf.
If that notice hasn't been replied to the clan disbands.

This way it wouldn't effect those who are active but alone... forever alone

Bad idea. Here's a situation: Jim makes a clan. Jim tells his friends at school to join his clan. Jims freinds say they'll join. Jims friends don't join yet, but then jims clan gets disbanded. Jims friends search for the clan. Jims friends can't find the clan. Jim can't start a clan.
But if there was a way to stop the harming of new clans, it would be good.

To previous: Let them exist for a month (or any amount of time) and after that, disband after 7 days of inactivity of the player. (could even be fully automated) On the other hand, i doubt it takes a lot of server space..

Define “Inactive clan”.
While you are at it, explain how it harms you or your clan.

Plenty of scenarios where a one person clan can be active.
Plenty of scenarios where a twenty person clan can be inactive.

Stop trying to homogenize the game because you can’t see another person’s reasoning.

I see that this could happen, so quote number two is an idea. If it really is just a resting place and you still play then I do not think your clan should be removed unless you are inactive and don't log on at all.

This could work. There are other games that deactivate accounts (clans) due to inactivity (which usually can be reactivated once the person becomes active again). This would clean up the clan atmosphere a bit.

The inactive clan itself does not need to be disbanded, but just hidden. I think that this should go for all clans that are completely inactive for a significant amount of time, regardless of the number of people in it. A month is a significant enough period of time I would say.

I had another idea, maybe a clan setting could be made with the toggle options private/public. This way if you wanted to be forever alone in your own clan without people bugging you in global, you could change your clan to private, that way it could not be searched, and it would show that you are active. Then after that Supercell could follow up with a clan disband for all 1 person public clans of course with a 2 week or so notice, with a countdown. This would solve Jimmy's problem as well, he could temporarily put his clan on private during the disband then make it public for his buddies to join.

This topic shouldn't be needed, the inactive 1 man clans should be removed as of last year. This issue needs to be at the top of the list

The leader should have to pay 20000 gold or something every month or the clan is disbanded. Not much but just to show it's not a dead clan

Its a bad idea, here is another one

Jim starts a clan and builds it up to a lot. But Jim is in the military and needs to go on deployment for several months. So Jim tells all his clanmates they should go join active clans and he will contact them when he gets back. So now what is fair for Jim in return for his service.

1. He comes back and reactivates his clan and they pick off still with their war record and xp points.
2. He finds out that it was taken away for him and his reward for his service is to lose his win record and all those xp points he and his friends worked for.

It would take a real tool to not want choice 1 for Jim.

Note - if anyone can think of a reliable way to sort out the guys that are gone for good from the ones that have to go away from the game for a few months please post it hereould ten support the idea. Remebr that we are talking months for some people. (military or guys that do seasonal work) and also rember that these folks have invested to start the clan and some level of gems were spent for two so money comes into it. (you can't sell them something then take it back) The 7 day suggestions earlier are kind of silly, those are kids that live in their games so they think a week is a long time.

One possible, if deleting a clan that has just one person (lets say Jim) in it the game has it recorded on Jims account (now clan less) so that when (or if) he ever comes active again he has a one time option in his settings to bring it back with its full record and xp points. (and from there it is up to him to refill it, or let it go and join another instead) But if he never comes back it is gone from the game and stays that way. (This would cover the longer absences)

If that happens then i will give Jim a muffin basket...

Seriously, I like the idea of tagging the clan to the person so they can bring it back if they ever come active again. But unless they come back its gone. That way there does not have to be time limits or anything.

No one is going to say that SC doesn't need to address these clans at some point, but they need a course of action that is fair to all, including the clan owners.

In the meantime.....try using the filter if they are offending you. A couple clicks and you no longer are troubled by them in your search results. In fact, if you do that they are effectively invisible to you, just like if they were gone from the game. Hey!! :-D

It doesn’t need to be addressed. If it doesn’t AFFECT gameplay, why should it concern people ?

Server space is not our concern. Unless you actually know and understand the database schema, datasets, server maintenance routines that SC employ, just to mention a few considerations, you are just guessing and/or regurgitating technology expressions you have encountered somewhere on the web.

As rwelshjr has already said, many of you want everyone to play the game in the same way as you choose to yourself. Let people play the game in their own way and stop interfering with them if they do you no harm.

I like the notion from online games that have clans is to require a certain amount to join in order to start the clan. Not sure if it would work great of this game, but I like the feature in other games. Usually takes 3 people to start a clan to prevent each person in the game to have their own one man clan...

What if I don't really want a clan, I just want to have a cool shield and clan name that hopefully makes other players think twice about attacking me because they're not sure what sort of nightmare will pop out of my clan castle.


If all these tiny clans really did create an issue with server space, Supercell would do something about them. Otherwise I don't see how it's a problem. You think all these tiny clans will now want to join your larger clan and be good members? I've never once, in regular raiding, cared whether or not troops come out of their CC. Most people don't hold troops for regular defenses, at least not the ones I raid.

I rarely request for troops unless its for a war attack. The only times I request troops for normal defense is if I have way too much loot. Other then that, I usually run day by day without troops in my CC.

You are talking about games where a clan serves as a functioning unit in an interaction with other clans. SC has addressed this by requiring a minimum of 10 people to particpate in a CW, currently the only way for clans to interact in CoC.

As there is no way for an individual to associate, function or interact with another person without being in a clan (other than Global chat), at some point there has to be single person clans. How long that single person clan stays single depends on it’s purpose (eg place-holder, war clan etc) or success at purpose (ie recruiting). The whole nature of Village vs Clan would to change before a minimum clan size requirement could be implemented. Kind of a motherhood statement but nonetheless correct.

I'm not sure how what you do is relevant here. I'm saying there are some people who DO create clans just because they want a cool name/shield, and/or to make people think their cc might be full.

I dont think disbanding is the way to go, I think a petition to create a clan should be made, where you need to get 10 members together so you can start a clan, and then once the clan is made its permanent

Although I am on the side that thinks this is not a big issue requiring emergency attention I will suggest (repost from what I said earlier in the thread) a way they could approach this that does get rid of the dead one person clans without disrupting the ones that are merely dormant.

1. Have a waiting period were no members are active (Do not log in) at all. Since this idea prevents the one the clan belongs to (the leader) from losing anything the waiting period does not have to be months. One season is sufficient.
2. After the waiting period is over the clan is tied to the leaders acct. If he ever comes active again he is asked if he wants to revive his clan. if he says yes the clan is reinstated with all xp points. war wins, etc.. and the leader is its sole member. From there he is free to restock it and move forward. He has not lost anything nor had anything taken away.
3. With the clan tagged to the leaders acct it can then be removed from the game. Unless the leader ever becomes active again and asks for it this clan will never be seen in COC again.

The inactive acct (the leaders acct) would still get handled the same way the game does already. It is largely hidden from view so that it with its full collectors that would give loot, does not come up in searches. (So that us players don't get that loot)

I don't see how this would solve anything if the data would still have to be kept and take up server space in case of a revive. People are just guessing that server space is an issue, and is it really a problem that these clans come up in searches? (What if you actually are looking for them?)

Which isn't possible in this game. It works for other MMOs as you have an online avatar where you can interact with other, like minded people.

Unless you have 9 other real life friends with whom you wish to start a clan the only other way is to go into global which due to the limits on how long messages are kept is completely infeasible.

Also I think you missed the part of my post where I said I personally did not care about these clans and I was simply respecting that others apparently do

This is what I mean you make a clan with a very unique name, you grow, you get good, then you see a bunch of other clans that copied your name; not to mention that most of the fanboy clans have 1 person in them. I think Mega Empire is the best example of this. There literally must be 1000 clans with the name Mega Empire just because of the one Mega empire Clayton made. A clan name with a name for example clashers would be a different scenario, the clan name is unoriginal and just overall stupid, all the 1 person clasher clans should also be disbanded.

Maybe not disbanded but just taken off the search results?

This has nothing to do with them copying your name. They can still do that and then they are trying to use it to help them recruit. That's not an inactive clan so it will remain.

I have only been on these forums for a few months but I tend to check them daily and I cannot remember more than one or two times that people have made a suggestion to remove one person clans.

I have to say that I think a blank removal of the clans is a bad idea and I would prefer it if an option was added in the clan search feature to not show one person clans, assuming that SC even have this on their RADAR to do.

The reason this is wanted is so that when we look up clans, we will only find (semi) active ones. It also makes clan names more unique because there won't be 50 inactive clans with the same name, hiding the active clans. This is not imperative to the game, of course; it would be one of the small tweaks to clean up the game.

1. Only active clans in the search (i.e. only active req n leave clans)
2. Easier to find clans you are looking for (dont have to search through 50 clans if you dont know clan tag)
3. Clan names become more unique

As stated before, yes it is not imperative, and there are ways around it. But most of the requests in this forum aren't imperative, they are there to make the game a little nicer and convenient. Inactive clans do not need to be deleted, only hidden if no one in the clan logs into the game for a certain period of time.

Jim starts a clan and builds it up to a lot. But Jim is in the military and needs to go on deployment for several months. So Jim tells all his clanmates they should go join active clans and he will contact them when he gets back. So now what is fair for Jim in return for his service.

1. He comes back and reactivates his clan and they pick off still with their war record and xp points.
2. He finds out that it was taken away for him and his reward for his service is to lose his win record and all those xp points he and his friends worked for.

It would take a real tool to not want choice 1 for Jim.

Note - if anyone can think of a reliable way to sort out the guys that are gone for good from the ones that have to go away from the game for a few months please post it hereould ten support the idea. Remebr that we are talking months for some people. (military or guys that do seasonal work) and also rember that these folks have invested to start the clan and some level of gems were spent for two so money comes into it. (you can't sell them something then take it back) The 7 day suggestions earlier are kind of silly, those are kids that live in their games so they think a week is a long time.

One possible, if deleting a clan that has just one person (lets say Jim) in it the game has it recorded on Jims account (now clan less) so that when (or if) he ever comes active again he has a one time option in his settings to bring it back with its full record and xp points. (and from there it is up to him to refill it, or let it go and join another instead) But if he never comes back it is gone from the game and stays that way. (This would cover the longer absences)

Or....Jim could promote one of his friends to be Leader to run the clan since there is no actual leader running the clan. It is Jim's fault for not running the clan properly therefore he must temporarily resign until he comes back from deployment. Say if one of the co's go crazy and start kicking people. It is Jim's responsibility to handle that and put the co-leader in their place.

I still think this idea is valid (this is definitely not a bump)
