OP ability to close thread

Hey guys, so in my time at the forums, I have had my share of terrible ideas. When you realize that an idea is bad, you would want to close it off. My idea was to put a button under thread tools saying close thread. This is only available to the person who started the thread. Simple idea, not too hard to do.
Tell me what you guys think!

I second this. We could clean up a lot of stuff. Plus, I don't want people to look at my old threads and see exactly how dumb I can be ;)

While I love this idea for the handful of people who genuinely want to close their thread because they realize their idea is awful, this would allow people with good ideas to close their thread if they wish. Threads that are valuable make the community a better place and allow for people to search to find information. If you want to have your thread closed, report it and if the mods determine its a bad idea/ruled out idea/etc, they can close it.

I third this. I have a few bad ideas to... <.<

With the rate at which old threads are actually read (approximately .07924% of the time) I don't see this as an issue. I understand your point, that we would be losing content, perhaps valuable content at that. However, it is already quite difficult to find all that content among the approximate 3,923 posts requesting the end to DE zapping. Maybe we could get a few of those closed to make life a little easier.

<br>Thanks for feedback.. the issue there is that mods would then be swamped with requests to close threads. ANd the thing is, if someone has a great idea, they will most likely get positive feedback. If they close their thread, someone who saw it might just post another one. Overall, i feel like the rewards outweigh the problems.

I love the idea in theory. However, the people posting these threads really think its a great idea. I don't know if they would actually close them. What happens if we have a thread that has a ton of valuable information in it, the original poster is disgruntled and decides to close it on a whim? Once a thread is created, its intellectual property of Supercell, so it is not really ours to close anymore. I suggest anyone who comes across DE zap threads or the numerous other ruled out/bad idea threads is to report them. They will be closed if enough people report them.

I see. I still feel like it would be really useful from the forums. Maybe give the OP ability to re-open thread? If they get messages saying reopen thread pls, I guess they could.
About people really thinking it's a great thread, that opinion changes once they see the feedback they get. I had a clan wars idea that was super-crappy, a couple dead threads, etc.. that I would like to close.

Darn you and your sensible logic. Fair point. I'll be back later to dispute it when I think of a good reason....and after I vote in the umpteen polls asking if DE zapping is bad.
