How to possibly make the revenge button work?

There is that giant red button under every raid in your defense log. You press it but you get the message "Player is online" or "Village has a shield". Very rarely do you get to actually utilize this tool. Here are some of my ideas for fixing the revenge button.
REVENGE BUTTON FIXES:
-One of the main problems with the revenge button is that it doesn't allow you to attack when the opponent is online or has a shield. So as a countermeasure to this, I propose that the revenge button allows you to override someone being online (kind of like Boom Beach) or to invade even if they have a shield.
-However to prevent abuse of this feature, revenge during a shield will NOT break a person's shield and leave the time left on one the same before the attack. For people with no shields, it will give them a shield depending on how hard the base was attacked like in a regular raid (40% gives you a shield, taking the TH gives you a shield).
-Lastly, for people in high cup leagues like Champions, it can be abused to farm trophies so instead the revenge button will no longer award trophies.

You can't input a feature that can override one's shield. I, for one, use the time I have a shield to make my war base as my home bases to allow other members to critique it. If someone could override the shield, they would steal everything.

Here's a counter idea: How about make the revenge button yellow when one's not able to revenge attack?

It already works.

I have no problem with revenges. If im able to revenge someone because theyre offline and doesnt have a shield then yippee but if i cant because of the opposite reasons, then i move on. I dont hold grudges. Much. Lol

the revenge bottom as always been a poor edition to the game. Well it became pretty useless once the leagues was added & league bonus.

I have 2 clans and maybe 1 or 2 use it.

I have also thought about improvement of the revenge feature, however I was thinking something along the lines of this:

-Players may use revenge attacks regardless of whether or not the defending player has a shield.
-revenge does not break your shield

These changes will greatly improve the revenge system imo because they give players the ability to always use the revenge attack (barring the case where the player is online). They will also not punish the player for who is taking revenge by disabling their shield. The shield feature balances the game by preventing players from getting attacked over and over. Therefore it makes no sense that taking revenge would disable your shield. There is no point. You might as well just attack someone else.

These changes will punish the player who made the initial attack. Even if he has a shield, his resources are still not completely safe. This will balance the game by creating consequences for attacking several people consecutively. It will put emphasis on upgrading defenses and setting up a well defended base, instead of players solely relying on their shield to prevent their resources from getting stolen.

It will also punish players who snipe town halls to farm trophies, which I believe is unhealthy for the game. If a player decides to consecutively destroy 5 town halls, he could potentially be revenged 5 times and lose that many resources, regardless of whether or not he has a shield.

Last but definatelty not least, it punishes people who lightning spell dark elixir storages. If someone steals your DE with a lightning spell, they are always vulnerable to revenge attacks even if they have a shield. Seems fair to me.

Let me know what you think.

Revenging through shield would be a game breaker... just think about it... If you attack 10 times in a day, you'd have 10 people who can now analyse your base, wait till you have loot, build an appropriate army and you'd be broke in days... you'd have people living off collectors only.....may as well be playing farmville, or some game with pink ponies and sparkly unicorns....


Far better to reduce shield lengths in my opinion.. say 6 hrs for th... that way revenge will be a bit easier, and now it's not as easy for farmers or zappers to hide behind an exposed th....:cool:

Isn't that the intended behavior, to comment on old posts instead of make a new one. If you make a new post everyone just says you should have used search.

I see double standards here.

I've tried to keep on top of what is ruled out and what is a valid idea but I see lots of ideas that are not in the ruled out forum (for active or ruled out topics both) and also a bunch of threads that exist that are ruled out but haven't been deleted.

I too believe the revenge button needs work. I posted an idea on it myself. I understand there are
1) privacy issues with
2) server loading issues
3) user annoyance with the current button
4) probably others I forget...

But the issue comes up over and over because it really is annoying.

I for one revenge almost everyone I can if they're at my th level or lower and they attacked me. I skip them if they're higher th because it usually is a waste of resources. But that aside, I have to click, wait, click, wait, click, wait, click wait. Welp.. nobody available for revenge go attack, build troops, back to click, wait, click, wait. Yeah.. it's annoying and needs some work. Sorry I don't have a suggestion that seems to appease the masses.

I made a suggestion not too long ago that there should be a certain amount of time at the end of the shield where bases are ONLY available for revenge, but don't show up in the matchmaking.

For example, a 12 hour shield might now only be a 10 hour full shield, plus 2 hours where only players who are revenging you can attack. Or maybe it's now a 14 hour shield, but with revenge attacks available the last 2 hours.

I do think it would add an element to the game that is largely missing if revenge attacks were easier to do and thus more frequent, but there has to be a balance, and you can't just let players revenge whenever.

Of course, you'd get a lot of players logging on as soon as their full shield goes down, but at least this would give players a better shot at revenge.


ONE MORE IDEA:

When you attack and go offline, perhaps there should be a 10-15 minute window where again, your base does not appear in the regular matchmaking queue...thus giving anyone looking to revenge you at least a small window of opportunity to get their revenge in before you get attacked by a random player.

I think one easy thing that would help is if revenge didn't break your shield until you actually committed to the attack. This way I could spam the revenge button and if an available base shows up I can see whether it's worth breaking my shield to attack. I know I can scout these bases but that's a waste of time since when scouting you don't know if they're online or have a shield.

On a similar note it would be nice if the normal multiplayer attack worked this way too.
