derby...how can something going so good be made to go so wrong?

If anybody at SC is listening, here are some things that I think would improve the "derby":

No time limit on tasks.

Additional types of tasks (such as filling boat crates, helping bushes, selling to walk-up customers, or feeding your pets, for example).

An additional prize for individual players who meet certain milestones (for example, if you achieve 1000 derby points, you would get a voucher).

i totally agree with no time limit on tasks. This really does punish the player that has real life responsibilities. Also like some of your additional tasks. Hope they will consider adding some new ones.

The third suggestion already exists. I have received diamonds from completing so many tasks or was it points. Can't remember, but it's there. Yay SC!

Brilliant ideas. They would boost feelings of teamwork and camaraderie. And more variety in tasks would keep the derby stimulating. :thumbsup:

I imagine they listen to the complainers because they are louder and seemingly the majority. It's not always easy saying you like something here . You get the reputation of being ALWAYS pro SC. You get called a fan boy and other such names. People hesitate to befriend you because they think you are blind to everything, and won't understand when they complain. On the contrary, the folks who don't always complain, are actually most likely to be critical because they know what supercell is capable of. We just have developed more patience with age, I guess.

I always welcome debate and productive feedback. But that's too hard for some. It's easier to say something is broke but harder to try to help fix it.
Ps. I don't read as often as I used to for the same reason as you. I like a more upbeat atmosphere.

powdermonkey, brilliant suggestion you make, on having no time limit on tasks! Thinking about it, i am not sure why SC have imposed any time limit other than end of derby. We are managing our own time in many aspects of the game, especially on derby, and it really should be up to players here.

i think that is the feeling many of the long time players have. There seems to be so many that have disappeared from the forum. I miss many of their very upbeat messages.

And here I thought I was the only one getting crappy task boards. I too have spent days on end trying to get a task worth more than 67 points. I was so fed up by day three I was seriously thinking of taking a long, long break from the game. Out of the six tasks I did 3 were boat and 1 was truck which means my inventory is now seriously w♥♥♥♥ed. I HATE the "new" derby.

And, if the jumping freaking screen doesn't get fixed SOON I'm definitely done. I cannot even see the top row of tasks now. If I scroll the top row onto the screen it immediately scrolls rapidly to the worthless WORTHLESS task log the second i take my finger away, and it stays there. Seriously, SC, do you not test your code before dumping it on your customers?

Lots did post that the derby was fine the way it was in those threads of complaints and said no break was needed. When they made the point changes, they fixed some only, and some of the ones they fixed are now un even and some they didn't fix that were un even. Not sure why they would need to make them worth less to accommodate the shorter time period, shorter time period has nothing to do with the pts.

I don't think they read the posts well before listening to some of the complainers, as I said many posted that it was fine the way it was. As for the other fixes, they did't fix them correctly, they made it worse. Just cause some complain, SC really needs to do a tad more research and make sure the majority is complaining and not fix for the few that complain every time we have an update.

The majority of the POSTERS you mean. Certainly not a majority of the players, but that's a number that's hard to quantify. You are contradicting yourself.. Which group of complainers should they listen to? And how do they know which are the ones that are right? The ones who liked it then but hate it now. Or the ones that hated it then and like it now. They will never be able to please everyone and people who are upset are prone to hyperbole. Not too long ago there were many, myself included, who thought the neighborhoods had, how did you put it, wrecked the game. And the town wrecked the game, and the change in number of boats you could flag wrecked the game. And the change in advertising wrecked the game , and the global events wrecked the paper and wrecked the game. And believe it or not. Long time ago it was trading that was wrecking the game. Every change introduced at one time or another wrecked the game for lots of people. And they left, sometimes loudly, sometimes quietly. But supercell always listens. Sometimes the answer is no. It is easy to post here and complain but I saw not one specific suggestion in your post. You said the only way to change things is to complain. Well that's what happened. Just this time the change upset you. Some people like parts of it. Some they don't like.

The better way to change things is to be specific. I like the break. I think six days is fine. I would rather do a smaller boat task than a larger one. I would rather there were no time limits. I would like a variety of crop tasks and animal tasks. I would like tasks we haven't seen yet, like make x number of cookies or other production tasks. I'd like the cool down time to be less and the tasks be more varied. I'd like the goal posts to be achievable for smaller neighborhoods. Those are specifics. "The update stinks" isn't.

And I want the smaller tasks to remain and I'll explain why. Our NH has always won and right now we are up against another NH that won last time. It's getting down to the wire. The boat tasks take a long time and it's possible that we willl need a short burst right at the end. Just how helpful are all those high point tasks then? Hmmmm. A 304 point fishing task won't help but a 100 point crop task might. Or a 10 townie task. Sometimes a person can only play for a little while. And the high point tasks mostly take a while. Just because some of you don't like them doesn't mean others don't. We have a bunch of over 250 point tasks up on our board right now. I'll be asleep when the derby ends but other members won't be. We generally don't pay for that 6th task, but it would be really tempting if we were just 100 points behind in the closing hour and I won't say that if I woke up and saw that, that I wouldn't be tempted. That's exciting.

So everyone, try to reign in the hyperbole and think of specifics. Maybe , just maybe, staff will see an idea they haven't thought of and you can say, "Hey that was my idea."

Now I have to go sell some tomatoes to my NH. That's my job. That and lettuce, so I'm off for a while. Try to be kind. I have feelings too.
